TRANSFORMING PATIENT CARE:
Another example of the quality care Vennue's pharmacy training program is providing: Our students are implementing their knowledge every day. In Chittagong, Bangladesh a father learns the proper way to use an inhaler for his baby. Each time a pharmacy worker dispenses a medicine, they have a valuable opportunity to counsel the patient or caregiver, ensuring all medicines are used safely and correctly. Together we can transform patient care in the developing world.

CLASS IS IN SESSION:
Vennue’s first students in Kathmandu, Nepal are hitting the books! To facilitate participatory learning and proactive problem-solving, our pharmacy education program offers bilingual instruction, flexible scheduling, and small, seminar-style classes in close proximity to Dhulikhel Hospital, where these pharmacy staff serve patients each day.

ADDRESSING THE HEALTH WORKFORCE GAP THROUGH FUNCTION-SHARING:
According to the WHO, Bangladesh has just 3.85 physicians per 10,000 people. We are addressing this severe health workforce shortage by supporting an expanded scope of practice for pharmacy staff. With training from Vennue, pharmacy workers are able to effectively perform an array of critical functions in the continuum of care even during the busiest of rush hours, which allows physicians more time for clinical tasks. Our model enables local health systems to provide a higher quality of care to a greater number of patients.

YOU'RE IN GOOD HANDS WITH VENNUE:
Baby Hammad’s grandmother and elder sister have carried him to a local QPS pharmacy for an oral dose of vitamin A, a micronutrient necessary to sustain rapid growth and combat infections. Hammad is in good hands: he will get the quality care he needs today from a pharmacy team that has completed Vennue’s training program. In Bangladesh, 1 in 5 children is living with vitamin A deficiency. Following WHO guidelines to reduce child illness and mortality, the Government of Bangladesh and UNICEF distribute vitamin A through fixed community sites like pharmacies. While they provide the inventory, we ensure the pharmacy workforce is ready and able to treat all the little Hammads who come through the door.

CONGRATULATIONS TO QPS ON THEIR FIRST "MODEL PHARMACY!"
The Bangladesh Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has recognized our retail pharmacy partner, Quick Prescription Services (QPS), by naming their Dhaka branch a "Model Pharmacy" for meeting and exceeding government standards. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was well attended by Vennue staff, the Director General of Drug Administration (DGDA), the State Minister of Health and other healthcare leaders who joined to celebrate the importance of quality pharmacy care. Hats off to QPS!
