CHILD OBESITY :
A child's body mass index (BMI), which is a measurement of weight in relation to height, must be at or above the 95th percentile for their age and s*x in order to be considered obese. This dangerous condition affects millions of children worldwide.

Child obesity can be caused by a variety of circumstances, such as:

Diet: Children who consume a lot of unhealthy foods, such as processed foods, sugar-filled beverages, and fast food, have a higher chance of becoming obesity.
Physical exercise: Children who do not engage in regular physical activity have a higher risk of obesity.
Genetics: Some kids are more likely than others to be obese due to their genetic makeup.
Socioeconomic factors: Obesity is more common in children from low-income homes. There are several reasons for this, including the difficulty in finding safe play areas and wholesome food sources.

Obesity in children can lead to several detrimental health effects, such as:

Type 2 diabetes: This long-term illness affects how well the body controls blood sugar levels.
The most common cause of death in the US is heart disease.
Stroke: When blood supply to the brain is cut off, a dangerous medical condition known as a stroke can result.
Those who have sleep apnea experience brief cessations of breathing while they are asleep.
Some cancers: Breast, colon, and endometrial cancers are among the malignancies for which obesity is a risk factor.

Several interventions can be implemented to prevent childhood obesity, such as:

urging kids to consume a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, nutritious grains, and lean protein.
Reducing the amount of unhealthy food that kids eat: This includes processed meals, sugar-filled beverages, and fast food.
Getting kids moving: Every day, kids should engage in moderate-intense physical activity for at least 60 minutes.
Making healthy decisions as a family will contribute to the development of a child-friendly environment.

Speak with your child's physician if you have concerns about their weight. Your child's doctor can assist you in developing a strategy to help them achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
