Feedback copied from Shahriar's AMC guideline✅ original post

With God's grace, I'm so happy to say I passed my AMC 1 exam in my first attempt.. It wasn't a very easy journey..it was with ups and downs..but ultimately if we put in our hardwork, it is doable guys.

I couldn't have done it without the miracles from God and my family who supported me throughout..and special thanks to SMA (course A) and Dr Shahriar Ahmed Sir, for not just mentoring us, but also relentlessly updating new topics, and recalls in support group during our exam month.

I was pretty much really new to this entire pathway when I joined, not knowing anything about it, but Sir made sure he explained to us not just what to study and how to study but also about what happens next, about the Australian system and really made us feel optimistic.
SMAs study plan and methodology is the perfect plan for anyone wanting to get through..Cuz you will cover John Murtagh in its entirety, simultaneously with handbook and we can evaluate ourselves with mock tests. Such perfectly designed time schedule it is!

I have no words to thank my study partners- Arunit Rajput, Shamara Rayani Dondeenu, Shivani Mangla Susan Koshy, Ummay Salsabila who were more than just study partners, but also a family to me throughout my journey..
Also Pritha who helped me with lots of last moment recalls, Ram, Monisha, and Musfika and Nguyễn Nhật Hoàng ; the 2 most active people in our guideline group who answered most of my doubts here.. And I can go on listing cuz this guideline group was the best forum to get to know people who were in the same journey as ours and were so selfless in helping one another..

So my study plan was like this.. It might help for those people who studies like me.. For others, well better skip this cuz it's going to be long and boring 🙈..

1. I have always felt I was a slow learner, so I did give myself 5 month completely for preparation with about 9-10 hrs study a day for about 6 days a week.. Which obviously increased as exam neared..

2. I did course A, so sticking to the SMA schedule, I was able to finish covering John Murthagh and handbook, which I would say is pretty important to lay a foundation. Other reference books I used were Tjendra (Surgery) , LLJ (OBG), Kaplan (Psychiatry), and our Davidson.
It is also very important to learn topics from RACGP guidelines, cuz there are many controversial and confusing topics.. So we have to do our fair part in researching Australian guideline. Equally important is screening protocol and population health topics from Red book ( which keeps updating, so keep checking current guideline also) , driving, and ethics. Ethics is mostly gut feeling guys..how much ever we learn that, the ethics qns are pretty funny.. And I also used to make notes from these for last minute quick revision.

3. Regarding question banks, I did the Psy Q bank which Sir gives (USMLE q bank I think), then I did some amedex offline files but couldn't complete them entirely, and had MPLUSX subscription for a month but to be frank couldn't even complete doing 50% of the qns cuz there are so many good qns and recalls in them..
My suggestion would be to find offline files and do them if possible, and if u still feel you need subscription, maybe take it.. Cuz we have to find ways to save money also right..

4. You'll get many recalls from this guideline group. It's very important to understand commonly asked qns.. So I used to complete a portion and atleast do a few qns from here relevant to the topic studied.. Tag ur study mates so that they can help us out and we can help them also.. Recall qns can be incomplete and frustrating but don't stop doing them.. If you can't find an answer, it's fine, study the related theory and move on.. Don't waste a lot of time on it..

5. Stick onto the study checklist which Sir shares.. Like we need a study partner, not for combined study per se ( cuz I was never a combined study person), but to help each other out when in doubt, cuz there are lots of things we cannot do on our own.. We need help and support and a community. And the best way to find a group is this forum.

6. Sir also shares a 40 day revision plan which is also absolutely marvellous to revise everything. We will surely feel a void and that 'God! I've forgotten everything' but that's okay.. It happens.. Just keep moving..

7. I would say to finish whatever revision or pending works before the first date of your exam month. And try to choose second last or last day of exam month if possible. Me and Arunit wrote exam in the same centre on the same day which was second last day (was blessed to get her as a study partner). Now that's bcoz we'll get plentiful of recalls. So we should keep aside those 5-6 days after exam begins solely to discuss these current recalls... And also SMA starts support group and Sir uploads beautiful file with recalls and relevant theory which is super important.. We got so many recalls.. So much so that I couldn't even finish covering them all.. There was also a Recall 2023 group in WhatsApp which actively discussed current recalls... but we did most of our discussion in our study group due to time zone issues, and Shivani, you really us helped a lot..

So these recalls are soo damnn important guys.. I had more than 75% of recall qns and I still don't know if my answers were correct, but we'll feel a little relieved seeing similar qns. But they will surely twist the stem, add more better suiting options to confuse us.. And we might end up thinking it's different from what we had discussed.. So then it's our judgement call, bring in the theory what we learnt, mark an option, pray and move on... Don't give more time analysing and run out of your time..cuz AMC has a way in confusing us.. You will be.. All we can do is pray, press and move.. I had difficulties managing my time cuz tried to analyze qns too deeply but alas still sitting confused! So pls don't make my mistake in exam Hall.. Plan your time before and stick to it no matter what!

8. And lastly and most importantly, trust in God and pray cuz a lot of it is luck.. Just do your best and leave the rest to God. He surely does miracles.

If you guys need any help.. You can approach me.. I'll be more than happy to help u out with what I know.. 🥰
Just believe in yourself and trust in God.

I spent my day and night in this study table of mine which became like my best place.. And ever since I started this journey, I had always wished if I could once write a success post here like many of SMA [shahriar’s medical academy ] students did... And Finally God made it happen.. 🥺❤

- Rosna.

That’s such heartbreaking news. 💔 Sorry , dear mark sloan / Mac steamy .

RIP to Eric Dane — best known to many of us as Dr. Mark Sloan (“McSteamy”) from Grey’s Anatomy. His presence on screen was unforgettable.

He was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) — a devastating motor neuron disease involving both upper motor neuron (UMN) and lower motor neuron (LMN) degeneration. It’s a condition we often discuss in neurology because of its profound clinical impact and, sadly, the fact that there is still no definitive cure.

As i talk often about this disease in neurology class, this news must feel especially personal. It’s always different when a condition we study academically affects someone we’ve watched and admired.

May he rest in peace. 🕊️
