ভোরের আলো ফোটার আগেই ব্যাগ গুছিয়ে বের হয় একজন মেডিকেল প্রোমোশন অফিসার। নতুন ওষুধের তথ্য নিয়ে শহুরে ভিড়ে শুরু হয় তার পথচলা।

সম্মানিত চিকিৎসকদের নিকট থেকে প্রেসক্রিপশনের আশায় চেম্বারে দীর্ঘ অপেক্ষা। কখনো কয়েক মিনিটের সুযোগ, কখনো ঘণ্টার পর ঘণ্টা বসে থাকা। প্রতিটি কথোপকথন যেন রোগীর জীবনে নতুন আশার প্রতীক। তার নিজের জীবনের সকল বাঁধা বিপত্তি এড়িয়ে চলে এই পথচলা।

দিন শেষে দিতে হয় রিপোর্ট, আনতে হয় সেলস। কোথায় আরও চেষ্টা করতে হবে - সব হিসাব কাগজে উঠে আসে। রাতের ক্লান্তি সত্ত্বেও দায়িত্ববোধ অটল থাকে। একজন মেডিকেল প্রমোশন অফিসারের প্রতিদিনের সংগ্রাম আসলে আমাদের সুস্থ থাকার পিছনের অজানা গল্প হয়।

বায়োফার্মা লিমিটেড অন্তরের অন্তঃস্থল থেকে ভালোবাসা, শ্রদ্ধা ও সম্মান জানায় স্বাস্থ্যসেবার এই সংগ্রামী সহযাত্রীদের। তাদের সম্মানেই আমাদের এই ছোট্ট উপস্থাপনা।

"মাইকো-ব্যাকটেরিয়াম লেপ্রি" নামক জীবাণু দ্বারা #কুষ্ঠ রোগ ছড়ায়। সাধারণত শরীরে অনুভূতিহীন লালচে দাগ হয়, ঘাম হয় না, আক্রান্ত স্থানের লোম পড়ে যায়। শরীরে গুটি ওঠা, হাত-পা ফুলে যাওয়া, বেঁকে যাওয়া, ব্যথাহীন ঘা হওয়া, কানের লতি মোটা হওয়া কুষ্ঠরোগের অন্যতম লক্ষণ। এই রোগ হাঁচি–কাশির মাধ্যমে ছড়ায়।

কুষ্ঠরোগের ক্ষেত্রে শুরুর দিকে চিকিৎসা শুরু করলে বিপদমুক্ত থাকা যায়। দেরি হলে হাত-পা অনুভূতিহীন হওয়া ও প্রতিবন্ধিতা দেখা দেয়। এই রোগ সম্পর্কে গ্রামে কিছু কুসংস্কার প্রচলিত আছে। এ ক্ষেত্রে সচেতনতা সৃষ্টি করা জরুরি।
