Every day a child is enabled to see their mother for the first time - bringing joyful tears to all, vision is restored to jobless youths thus enabling them to become earning members of the family, and scores of elderly are helped to live their lives happily and independently. i) To setup a Modern, well equipped specialized eye hospital and Research institute. ii) To carry the business of providing eye care service to the common population of the country. iii) To deliver eye care through out door, indoor and round to clock emergency service. iv) Setting up of most modern, sophisticated equipment for investigation and treatment of all kinds of Ophthalmic and Optometric Diseases. v) To work in joint collaboration with any local or foreign organization for setting up of any service center at different place inside and or outside the country. vi) To refer patient to any foreign country, as well as to bring any foreign expert for better of the patient, trained up local Optometrists, to have the better and improve eye care service provided of the patient. vii) To help the visually handicapped persons as well as their proper social economic rehabilitation. viii) To take up any rehabilitation programmed for the Ophthalmic and Optometric disabled individual in the society either by the company along or joint collaboration with other organization (National ,International, Government, Non-Government or autonomous body)
ix) To participate effectively in the program of awareness camp for social education and child care. x) To conduct any type of research program and higher education related to Optometry and vision Science. xi) To establish a modern well, equipped General hospital and Diagnostic Center. xii) To provide community health-care, eye care, maternal and child health, family planning service delivery facilities and establish vaccination center. xiii) To establish eye bank, blood bank and hematological laboratory facility. xiv) To arrange for training in regards to self employment for the highest benefit of all section of the people at rural, urban and slums. xv) To print, sell, distribute and publish or caused to be published useful books, journals, periodicals. Literatures and Magazines. xvi) To promote and encourage advancement of scientific technical education suited to our heath care delivery system. xvii) To arrange or organize lecture, debate, discussion, seminar, conference, fair and exclusion for the accretion of knowledge. Rural Eye Services:
In this a team of doctors and paramedics go to various towns and villages in 450 km radius from Dhaka . The patients fit for operation are selected and brought to the base hospital on hospital expenses. They are then operated here by the latest and most sophisticated technology. Expenditure for arrangement of stay, food and medicine are also borne by the institute. Follow-up of these patients is done after seven days and final check-up after two month of surgery. School Eye Programs: In this out patient and preliminarily examination of the students is conducted in the schools. The students who are found with defective vision are then referred for further detailed examination and treatment. This helps in creating a youth who are absolutely free from visual disabilities. Conducting such programs helps in eradicating eye diseases at their very onset. Amongst the various schools where eye-screening camp was conducted, astonishing figures of visual impairment have been found. Almost 20% of students from high profile schools had defective vision and had never visited an eye specialist. This suggests that to create a healthy society free from eye aliments, it is necessary that such screening camps be organized. Mobile Eye Care Unit :
CITY LIONS EYE HOSPITAL also works through a Mobile Eye Care by CITY LIONS EYE HOSPITAL , Dhaka which is equipped with gadgets related to primary eye investigations, viz. Slit Lamp Bio-microscope, Computerised Refractometer and Refraction Set. It also possesses an optical sub-unit in it, which does the job of spectacle dispensing. This is a venture of CITY LIONS EYE HOSPITAL which provides reasonably cost effective preliminary treatment to the eye patients residing in remote towns and villages and who have to spend large amount of money on travel to reach the base hospitals at near by major cities. Further, those patients requiring specialized treatment or surgery are transferred to the base hospital at CITY LIONS EYE HOSPITAL to render them either free or subsidized treatment (depending upon the condition of the patient). VISION CENTERS - SMALL CLINICS IN PERIPHERAL CENTERS RUN BY PARAMEDICAL STAFF UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF CONSULTANT OPHTHALMOLOGIST. Apart from this ,every week, vision center is visited by CONSULTANT OPHTHALMOLOGIST.
