পদার্থ বিজ্ঞানে নোবেল ২০১৬

তত্ত্বের মধ‌্য দিয়ে পদার্থের টপোলজিকাল দশার দিশা দেখিয়ে এই বছর পদার্থে নোবেল পেয়েছেন তিন ব্রিটিশ বিজ্ঞানী। রয়্যাল সুইডিশ অ্যাকাডেমি অব সায়েন্সেস মঙ্গলবার এই পুরস্কারের জন্য ডেভিড জে থুলেস, এফ ডানকান এম হালডেন ও জে মাইকেল কোস্টারলিটজের নাম ঘোষণা করে।

নোবেল কমিটির সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে বলা হয়, এই তিন বিজ্ঞানী এক অজানা জগতের দুয়ার উন্মোচন করেছেন, যেখানে পদার্থ বিচিত্র দশায় বদরে যেতে পারে। এই গবেষণায় তারা সুপার কন্ডাক্টর, সুপার ফ্লুইড ও পালতা ম‌্যাগনেটিক ফিল্মের আচরণ বুঝতে উচ্চতর গাণিতিক পদ্ধতি ব‌্যবহার করেছেন। তাদের এই পথ দেখানো গবেষণার ফলে ইলেক্ট্রনিক্সে নতুন সম্ভাবনার আশা তৈরি হয়েছে।

রীতি অনুযায়ী আগামী ১০ ডিসেম্বর স্টকহোমে তিন বিজ্ঞানীর হাতে পুরস্কার তুলে দেওয়া হয়। পুরস্কারের ৮০ লাখ সুইডিশ ক্রোনারের অর্ধেক পাবেন থুলেস। বাকিটা হালডেন ও কোস্টারলিটজ ভাগ করে নেবেন।

সুইডিশ বিজ্ঞানী আলফ্রেড নোবেলের শেষ ইচ্ছা অনুসারে গবেষণা, উদ্ভাবন ও মানবতার কল্যাণে অবদানের জন্য প্রতি বছর চিকিৎসা, পদার্থ বিজ্ঞান, রসায়ন, সাহিত্য, শান্তি ও অর্থনীতিতে নোবেল পুরস্কার দেয়া হয়।
