Fatty liver disease or MASLD (Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease) is a progressive liver condition and affects more than 30% of adults worldwide. Bangladesh is also experiencing an increasing trend of MASLD due to changing dietary patterns and sedentary lifestyles. In Bangladesh, an estimated 45 million people are living with MASLD. Progression of MASLD to MASH (Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis) raises mortality risk and may result in fibrosis, cirrhosis, or liver cancer.

Resmetirom is the first & only US-FDA-approved oral therapy offering a new promise for the treatment of MASH with moderate to advanced fibrosis (F2-F3).

Constipation is a bowel dysfunction where bowel movements become infrequent or difficult to pass. Common causes include low fiber intake, inadequate water consumption, sedentary lifestyle, certain medications, hormonal changes, stress, and underlying medical conditions. Around 28% of the global population lives with chronic constipation. In Bangladesh, the prevalence is 11.8%, and the condition is 2-3 times more common in women than in men. Raising awareness about constipation and its causes may help to encourage healthier habits and support better digestive well-being in the community.

World AIDS Day reminds us that HIV continues to impact millions of lives around the world. In Bangladesh, approximately 17,000 adults and children were living with HIV as of the latest UNAIDS data, with a 41% coverage rate for adults and children receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART). It is observed every year on 1st December to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, remember those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses and support people living with HIV. The official global theme released by UNAIDS for World AIDS Day 2025 is "Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response". AIDS is a preventable & manageable disease. So, our inclusive actions & effective measures can break the barrier to fight against HIV AIDS.

GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) is a chronic condition where stomach acid repeatedly flows back into the esophagus. This happens when the lower esophageal sphincter, that acts like a valve becomes weak or relaxes when it shouldn't. This backflow can cause symptoms like heartburn, chest discomfort, or a sour taste in the mouth.
GERD Awareness Week reminds us how common this condition is and how important early recognition and lifestyle changes can be. Eating smaller meals, avoiding trigger foods, and not lying down right after eating can help manage symptoms.
Did you know?
Over 50% of young adults in Bangladesh suffer from GERD symptoms
Spicy food, irregular meals, stress, and late-night eating make it worse
Long-term untreated GERD can lead to severe ulcers.
Let's spread awareness and support healthy habits!

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a major global health threat, responsible for millions of deaths each year. Misuse and overuse of antibiotics are key factors that lead to antimicrobial resistance. AMR affects all countries, but its impact is greater in low- and middle-income regions, where health systems are often less equipped. As bacteria become resistant, common infections and medical procedures like surgeries and cancer treatments become riskier and harder to manage. At the same time, there are very few new antibiotics being developed, and access to effective medicines and diagnostics remains limited. AMR also places a heavy economic burden, with projected healthcare costs and global productivity losses reaching trillions of dollars in the coming decades.

⚠️Be aware of how to prevent antimicrobial resistance

🧴Wash your hands, stay clean, and only take antibiotics as prescribed by a doctor

Protect yourself by avoiding mosquito bites, keeping surroundings clean, and removing stagnant water. If symptoms appear, stay hydrated, rest well, avoid NSAIDs and unnecessary antibiotics, and monitor platelet counts as advised. Early attention helps prevent complications. Stay alert, stay protected. 🛡🦟
