Let’s be honest—here in Victoria, we don't worry much about snowbanks. We worry about the "Wet Leaf Slide." 🍂
If you are heading out to run errands this week, please remember that our damp sidewalks can be just as slippery as ice. Staying active is important, but staying upright is the priority!
3 Quick Checks Before You Step Out:
👟 Check Your Treads: Flip your shoes over. If the soles feel smooth, they are unsafe for wet pavement. Wear your hikers or rubber-soled boots, even if you’re just going to the mailbox.
💡 Be Bright, Be Seen: It gets dark so early now! If you are walking at 4 PM, drivers struggle to see you through the rain. Wear a bright scarf or a jacket with reflective strips.
🍂 Dodge the "Brown Ice": Wet, matted leaves are a major fall hazard. Walk around them, not through them.
The Smartest Move? If it’s pouring rain and the wind is howling, the bravest thing you can do is stay safe inside with a cup of tea. ☕
Don't risk a fall for a loaf of bread.
If you need an errand run on a nasty day, that’s what neighbours (and services like mine!) are for.
Stay dry and safe, everyone!
