Know your BMI and body weight status.
Welcome!
Friends Body Mass Index or BMI is the ratio of body height and weight, which indicates whether your weight is normal. ( Watch Video: https://youtu.be/_FSuOgqvZTM )

BMI Category Chart:
BMI > 18 : underweight
BMI = 18.5 - 24.9 :normal weight
BMI = 25-29.9 : Overweight
BMI = 30 – 34.9 Obesity
BMI = 35-39.9 : Level 2 Obesity
BMI >=40 : Level 3 Obesity.

The formula for calculating BMI = weight /height /
height.
In this case the weight should be taken in kg and the height should be taken in meters.
By giving an example, BMI can be easily understood.
Suppose you are 5 feet 2 inches height and weigh 62 kg.

First, take the height in meters. It has to be calculated from feet to inches, inches to centimeters and finally centimeters to meters.

5 foot 2 inches = 5 X 12 + 2 = 62 inches [1 foot = 12 inches]
62 inches = 62 X 2.54 = 157 centimeter [1 inch = 2.54 cm]
157 centimeter = 157/100 = 1.57 meter [100 cm = 1 meter]

BMI = Weight /Height / Height
= 62 /1.54 / 1.54
= 25
Now look at the BMI chart, you are in overweight category.
Thus you can find out your BMI to know your weight status.

Snake bite Treatment:
welcome!
Today, we will know what to do when bitten by a poisonous snake. According to the World Health Organization, every year 1,38,000 people die from snake bites. If the snake bite has two sharp deep spots on the body, then it is understood that the poisonous snake bite.
Watch Video: https://youtu.be/gm0FLZE_w70

1. If you are diagnosed with snake bite don’t panic. But don’t waste time to kill or find out the snake.

2. Put the patient to bed immediately. Keep the person calm and at rest. The patient's movements should be stopped completely, so that the poison does not spread quickly.

3. At first you try to understand the snake is venomous or non-venomous. Venomous snakes have two fangs that deliver venom when they bite. A venomous snake bite will usually leave two clear puncture marks. In contrast, a non-venomous bite tends to leave two rows of teeth marks. If snake is venomous you have to take the treatment as soon as possible.

3. The stained area was washed with clean water.

4. If the snake bites the hand or the leg, then it must be tied to the rope or whatever you find near the hand on the stalk. The bandage should not be on the elbow, wrist or ankle and on the neck or head. The rope or cloth you bind should not be as thin as cotton. The binding must be given so that a finger can pass through the embankment. The purpose of the bandage is to stop blood flow.

5. DO NOT apply a tourniquet, cut the wound or attempt to suck the venom out.

7. After the initial treatment, arrangements should be made to send the patient to the nearest hospital or clinic, where the anti-venom or serpentine drugs are available.

How to prevent Rota-virus?
Welcome ladies and gentlemen!
Do you know how to prevent rotavirus? If you don’t know please read the post or watch the video. I hope you will get a good knowledge about this.
Rotavirus spreads easily among infants and young children. The virus can cause severe watery diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and abdominal pain.

According to CDC, Each year, rotavirus causes approximately 111 million episodes of gastroenteritis requiring only home care, 25 million clinic visits, 2 million hospitalizations, and 352,000–592,000 deaths in children under 5 years of age.

Rotavirus vaccine is a vaccine used to protect against rotavirus infections, which are the leading cause of severe diarrhea among young children. The vaccines prevent 15–34% of severe diarrhea in the developing World and 37–96% of severe diarrhea in the Developed World. The vaccines decrease the risk of death among young children due to diarrhea. The World Health Organization recommends that rotavirus vaccine be included in national routine vaccination programs, especially in areas where the disease is common.

Two rotavirus vaccines are currently licensed for use for infants. Rotarix® (RV1) and RotaTeq® (RV5). Both vaccines are given by putting drops in the child’s mouth.

Doses Schedule:
1) RV1: Total 2 doses.
1st dose: At ages 2 month.
2nd dose: At ages 4 month.

2) RV5 : Total 3 doses.
1st dose: At ages 2 month.
2nd dose: At ages 4 month.
3rd dose: At ages 6 month.

Side Effects of Rotavirus Vaccine:
The majority of babies won't have any problems at all. A few babies will have side effects, such as diarrhea, although in general these are mild and short-lived. Also, bear in mind that diarrhea and vomiting in babies is common and is generally not related to the vaccine.

Vitamin A Deficiency Disease Prevention.

Welcome ladies and gentlemen!
I hope everyone is good. Today we will know about the facts aginst Vitamin A deficiency disease. Ok lets start.

There are 3 vitamin A deficiency disease namely Night blindness, Hyperkeratosis and keratomalacia.

Night blindness also called Nyctalopia, is a condition making it difficult or impossible to see in relatively low light. It can be described as insufficient adaptation to darkness. According to World Health Organization, Globally night blindness affects 5.2 million preschool age< 5 years children and 9.8 million pregnant women.

Hyperkeratosis is when the outer layer of the skin is thickened. The outer layer of the skin will contain keratin, which is a protective protein. It is a form of keratosis, which is a skin disorder caused by over production of keratin.

Keratomalacia is an eye disorder. The resulting cornea becomes totally opaque, which is one of the most common reasons for blindness around the world, particularly in developing countries.

To Prevent this diseases you have to meet the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of vitamin A . The RDA is the estimated amount of a nutrient per day considered necessary for the maintenance of good health by the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Research Council or National Academy of Sciences.
Beside RDA you should know about the TOLERABLE UPPER INTAKE LEVEL (Upper Limit) of Vitamin A. Upper Limit is the highest level of nutrient intake that is likely to pose no risk of adverse health effects for almost all individuals in the general population. As intake increases above the Upper Limit, the risk of adverse effects increases.

The RDA and Upper Limit of Vitamin A of different ages is given below for you.

Infants :
Age(0 to 6 months) Recommended Dietary Allowance = 400 micro gram par day and upper limits=500 micro gram par day.
Age (7 to12 months) Recommended Dietary Allowance = 600 micro gram par day and upper limits = 600micro gram per day.

Children :
Age(1 to 3 years) Recommended Dietary Allowance( RDA) = 300 micro gram par day and upper limits =600 micro gram.
Age(4 to 8 years) Recommended Dietary Allowance( RDA) = 400 micro gram par day and upper limits 900 micro gram per day.

Males :
Age(9 to 13 years) Recommended Dietary Allowance( RDA) = 600 micro gram par day and upper limits 1700 micro gram per day.
Age(14 to 18 years) Recommended Dietary Allowance( RDA) = 900 micro gram par day and upper limits 2800 micro gram per day.
Age(19 years and above) Recommended Dietary Allowance( RDA) = 900 micro gram par day and upper limits 3000 micro gram per day.

Females:
Age(9 to 13 years) Recommended Dietary Allowance( RDA) = 600 micro gram par day and upper limits 1700 micro gram per day.
Age(14 to 18 years) Recommended Dietary Allowance( RDA) = 700 micro gram par day and upper limits 2800 micro gram per day.
Age(19 years and above) Recommended Dietary Allowance( RDA) = 700 micro gram par day and upper limits 3000 micro gram per day.

Pregnancy:
Age < 19 years Recommended Dietary Allowance ( RDA) = 750 micro gram par day and upper limits 2800 micro gram per day.
Age > 19 years Recommended Dietary Allowance ( RDA) = 770 micro gram par day and upper limits 3000 micro gram per day.

Lactation:
Age < 19 years Recommended Dietary Allowance ( RDA) =1200 micro gram par day and upper limits 2800 micro gram per day.
Age > 19 years Recommended Dietary Allowance ( RDA) =1300 micro gram par day and upper limits 3000 micro gram per day.

Sources of Vitamin A :
100 gram Cod liver oil contain 30000 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram Liver (turkey) contain 8058 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram liver (beef, pork, fish) contain 6500 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram liver (chicken) contain 3296 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram ghee contain 3069 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram Capsicum red contain 2081 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram sweet potato contain 961 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram carrot contain 835 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram broccoli leaf 800 Vitamin A.
100 gram butter contain 684 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram kale contain 681 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram collard greens frozen then boiled contain 575 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram butternut squash contain 532 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram dandelion greens contain 508 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram spinach contain 469 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram pumpkin contain 426 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram collard greens contain 333 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram cheddar cheese contain 265 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram cantaloupe melon contain 169 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram egg contain 140 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram apricot contain 96 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram papaya contain 55 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram tomatoes contain 42 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram mango contain 38 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram pea contain 38 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram broccoli florets contain 31 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram milk contain 28 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram bell pepper, green contain 18 μg Vitamin A.
100 gram spirulina contain 3 μg Vitamin A.

Now you can easily calculate your per day need of vitamin A. Suppose you are a above 19 years non Female. According to RDA you have to take 700 micro gram vitamin A per day. So you should take 2.33 gram cod liver oil or 8.69 gram turkey Liver or 10.77 gram beef liver in a day.

Common calculation of per day food requirement = (100/amount of vitamin A per 100 gram ) * RDA .

Nutrition Knowledge:
Nutrition and good health complement each other. So maintaining a good health you have to know about basic nutrition knowledge.

Nutrition: Nutrition is the science of food or millions of individual cells, which require nutrients to carry out the chemical reactions which keep them alive and functioning properly.

Nutrients: The nutritive substances contained in the food which the body needs to function properly are known as nutrients. Nutrients can be classified into 2.
1) Macro-nurient and 2) Micronutrients.

Macronutrients : Those nutrients present in the diet in large amounts in the range of grams. Carbohydrate, Fat, Protein & Water are Macronutrients.

The main function of carbohydrate and fat is to provide energy, while protein supplies structural material to build body cells and tissues. Water does not provide any energy but is of critical importance because of its function as a solvent in which all chemical reactions occur and as a component of the body’s temperature regulation system.

Micronutrients : Those nutrients required in very small amounts in our body in the range of milligrams(mg) and micrograms. Vitamins, Minerals and trace elements ate micronutrients.

Vitamins : Vitamins are essential organic substance found in tiny amounts in the diet for normal function , growth and maintenance of body tissues. There are 13 vitamins like vitamin A, Vitamin B( B1, B2, B3, B5, B6,B7, B9, B12), vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E and Vitamin K. Vitamins can be classified into two groups based on their solubility. Fat Soluble Vitamins like Vitamins A, D, E & K. It can be stored in either the liver or adipose tissue. When their intake is in excess of needs. Other is water Soluble Vitamins like Vitamin C and Vitamin B complex. The water soluble vitamins are not stored in the body to any appreciable extent. Excess intake leads to their excretion in urine.So we should take food that contain Vitamin C daily.

Minerals: Minerals are essential in the diet and each plays an unique and often multi-factorial role and they act at all levels of the body – cells, tissues, organs, and the whole organism. Examples- calcium and phosphorus help build and maintain strong bones and teeth; others, e.g.; selenium, act as antioxidants or are key components of in important body com-pounds. Lodine, for example, is a component of the thyroid hormones (important for growth and metabolic rate control), and iron is component of haemoglobin in red blood cells. Some minerals such as sodium, potassium , calcium and chloride function in the transmission of nerve impulses and muscle con-traction, and aid in the regulation of the body’s water and electrolyte balance. Finally ,several vitamins require specific minerals to act ad key components in their structure and function. For example , vitamin B12 requires cobalt in its structure to function efficiently.

Major Minerals : Generally speaking, if 100mg or more per day of a mineral is required, it is referred to as a major mineral. calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, Chlorine and magnesium are major minerals.

Trace Elements : a mineral is considered a trace element when it is required in amounts less then 100 mg pre day. Iron, Zinc, Selenium, Iodine, Chromium, Fluorine, Copper, Manganese, Molybdenum, Cobalt are Trace Elements.

On average the human body is composed of 60% water and 40% dry matter of protein , fat, carbohydrate, minerals and trace elements.
When looking at the dry matter (40%) the detail of Body composition of a non -obese man is –
Protein = 40%, Fat = 40%, Minerals &Vitamins=15%, Carbohydrate =5%.
For good health we must take into consideration on nutritious value while taking food.
