 Every once in a while I like to design for a good cause. Psychedelic Society Belgium is such an organization. They advocate for psychedelic-assisted mental healthcare. And with their focus on aiming to create a legal framework for therapeutic use, I offered to help with a brand dna, a logo and a simple design system that speaks to their audience .

No. 21 — Yuval (Noah Harari) .
A year ago I received a copy of 21 Lessons for the 21st Century, the latest book by historian and bestselling author , for my birthday.  Piled up between many other books, I’m almost through it now and absolutely loving it. Yuval brings clarity on some of today’s most urgent questions. His intelligence, kindness and world view are of such a distinct level, that it’s difficult not to like him .
I created a piece that feels both ethnic and organic with a hint to the dynamic force of life itself .
Oh yeah, 3 times number 21! 🤪 .

No. 20 — Melanie De Biasio

A few years back my wife introduced me to this woman's work. What a revelation. Melanie is a Belgian jazz singer, flutist and composer with Italian roots who has been surprising jazzland since her debut album A Stomach Is Burning. �

Before that album she suffered from a lung infection during a tour and - not being able to sing for a year - then developed her distinct whispering chant. The efforts from the collective on her second album No Deal take you deep inside their world, referencing some of the great bygone days of jazz music yet firmly grounded in the present. The music is engaging and refined, which was likely one of the reasons decided to remix the album.

Soulful, gentle, simple and thrilling are words I kept in mind when creating this. A tiny piece for a grand woman.

Hello-ho. Summer recap:

1) Last June I became a first time dad of a snappy, healthy boy who we named Firas. Oh the joy! And the restless nights. (It’s better now) .

2) I created a new identity and website for my own studio. Learned a new browser app for this and I must say the possibilities with are endless. (D*mn you, lovely interactions) .

3) What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger .

Naming, logotype and businesscard for a private equity consultant active in finance and biotech. ‘Fundat’, is third person Latin for ‘I establish’ and also a contraction of ‘fund(raising)’ and ‘data’

The idea for the icon stems from a ‘grounded tree withstanding every wind’ and a ‘data circuit’

No. 19 — Nima (Nabavi) .
Nima is an incredible, self-taught Iranian artist living in Dubai who makes geometric abstract art with deep connection to the natural world. His meticulous, labor intensive way of placing ink on paper constantly reveals newly found shapes which could be called ‘a shared reality’. The intricate geometries are heavily inspired by his grandfather who (also) was a master geometer .
Aside from his work he is one of the funniest people I have met, since I spent a whole week with him at Burning Man last summer. Oh man, such good times. Thanks so much for all the laughs. I look forward to catching up, my friend .
I kept this one very simple and chose to finish it with color gradients that eventually experience in his work. Check it out here:
