🌷 Between October 22 - 24, the SOFT tulip team took part in the event of our partners EASPD Brussels in their event “Empowering Families, Enabling Self-Determination: Rethinking Support at Every Stage of Life.”

Together with 250+ professionals, families, and organizations from across Europe, we explored how disability services can better support families and promote true inclusion.

👉 We’re proud that our Advisor Eric Bloemkolk moderated the session on EarlyBrainproject, connecting leaders from COFACE Families Europe, Fundacion TMA, Karin Dom, and others to share how early support can empower families.

Grateful to EASPD for the invitation and for our long-standing partnership that keeps growing stronger 💜

The Beyond Digits partners are proud to announce that their Research on Learning Gaps of Neurodivergent individuals in Financial Literacy was presented by project coordinator, Εταιρεία Ψυχοκοινωνικών Μελετών (Ε.ΨΥ.ΜΕ.), during the recent Panhellenic Conference on Autism in Athens (Greece). 🇬🇷

But that’s not all, the research will also be presented by project partners KI-I during the upcoming International Conference of Education, Research and Innovation Conference in Seville (Spain) 🇪🇸

These events are an important step in raising awareness and expanding the conversation around the financial literacy needs of neurodivergent individuals.

One thing’s for sure about EASPD conferences: we make the most of every opportunity to meet local partners and learn from them. 🤝

Last week in Turin was no exception. We organised three study visits that brought us closer to organisations making a real difference in the community.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Fondazione Paideia hosted us at their centre, where we learned about their community-based model to supporting children with disabilities and their families.

🖌️ We visited LABORATORIO ZANZARA COOP. SOC. ONLUS, a local social cooperative promoting employment and inclusion for people with disabilities.

🧑‍🏫 Schools staff of Italy's education system shared their experiences with us, and CBM Italia showcased their techniques to increase empathy between students to create more inclusive classrooms.

These were great opportunities to connect and share practical insights that will help create a fully inclusive society. Keep an eye out for our next newsletter to learn more! 😉

When unaccompanied children flee war, who is there to support them?

This month, EASPD's Project and Policy Officer Lyzaveta Drannikova 🇺🇦 sat down with Eurochild's Davide Rambaldi to talk about the situation of Ukrainian children who have been displaced by the war and the lessons learned from the project - an initiative that is strengthening child protection systems and support for guardians across Europe.

Their podcast discussion explores:
🔹 The main challenges faced by guardians and displaced children
🔹 The importance of listening to each child’s story, trauma, and needs while offering tailored support, especially for children with disabilities or those coming from institutions
🔹 Practical tools and guidelines to help professionals make a difference

Have you read the EarlyBrain White Book yet?

A better future starts with strong foundations.
The White Book highlights what works (and what still needs to change) to ensure every child has the support they need to thrive. Support needs to be:
✅ Family-centred
✅ Community-based
✅ Inclusive and coordinated across health, education & social services

Let’s keep the conversation going and push for real change.

☑️ Yesterday we launched our informal carers report.
☑️ Today we signed the Turin Declaration.

12 organisations stand alongside our action to ensure sustainable, community-based support systems that empower families and informal carers.

What's in the Declaration?
💠 Focus on delivering a strong EU Care Deal.
💠 Create a second phase of the EU Disability Rights Strategy (2026–2030)
💠 Call to strengthen the Child Guarantee for children with disabilities and their families

The main message of the EASPD Turin Declaration is very clear : an inclusive system is not a privilege, it's a right.
