🌿 What is Ashtanga Yoga “Mysore style”? 🌿
Mysore is the traditional way of practicing Ashtanga Yoga, as it has been taught in Mysore, India – hence the name.
In a Mysore class, each student practices their own portion of the sequence at their own pace, while the teacher gives individual guidance, support, verbal cues and hands-on assistance. Step by step, you learn the sequence by heart, which builds focus, presence and confidence in your practice.
✨ How it works:
🪷You don’t need to follow the group or keep up with anyone else
🪷The teacher supports you personally – offering variations and adaptations where needed
🪷Students of all levels practice together in the same room
🪷You can arrive and leave within the class time frame – no need to stay for the entire session
Over time, Mysore practice helps you to become more independent, stronger, and calmer, both on and off the mat.
