Thank you to everyone who attended our first Maryborough Group meeting for 2026, it's wonderful to see the group growing. Finally, it is pleasing to see that there are some supports for Carers starting to become available in the Wide Bay region. Here are the details for a new program being run by RFQ, which is a community-based organisation with offices in Maryborough & Bundaberg. The program offers up to 12 months FREE non-clinical support for Carers with a Peer Worker. You can phone 1300 557031 or visit the website:

Hi everyone, just an update. I am busily working away organising venues for networking events for Carers. I am also putting together a range of resources that will be available from this page for Carers. If anyone has any suggestions of information they would like to see/have please let me know. The purpose of this network is that it is a community for everyone who is a Carer has the opportunity to provide input about what they need. This page is a community page for Family and Friends who care for someone with a Mental Health challenge .
I know how unsupported you can feel as a Carer sometimes and that it can be difficult to explain to others just how demanding caring for someone with mental ill-health can be.
I am establishing a series of get togethers for those in the community who are facing the same challenges.
The purpose is to collaborate, develop and share resources and knowledge. To help make the role of caring for others just a little easier, to feel a little more supported and spend some time with people who are facing the same battles and challenges.
As well as a carer, I am also a professional worker in this sector, my role in this group is to facilitate discussion and support those in the network.
If you are a Carer of someone with Mental Health challenges and you live in the greater Wide bay/Burnett region, please register your interest by liking this page . I am endeavoring to hold monthly meetings in several locations throughout the region.
