I’m taking some time to slow down in between our weddings. Yes, we have two of them! Most of Maziar’s family lives in Iran, and getting them a visa to enter Europe is very hard. So we decided to do a wedding in our backyard in Belgium for all our Belgian friends and family and an intimate family holiday/Persian wedding celebration in Turkey with Maziar’s and my family of origin.

Planning and celebrating two weddings is crazy fun but also takes a lot of energy. I’m allowing myself to slow down regarding the Holistic Healing House to be fully present in my personal life during these magical wedding months. I will be teaching one restorative and sound healing class this month, though! Link in bio to join me for some deep rest.

I spent the last two weeks soaking up the sun and the sea in Paros. During the first week, I joined for a deeply nourishing retreat. It served as a beautiful reminder that all I need to feel deeply alive, free and joyful is nature and embodied presence (though good food also helps ;)). It was such a gift to be able to spend 5 hours a day exploring what is alive in my body and moving just for the sake of moving. Allowing my body to lead the way, and so it melts away any blockages, stress and tension. It’s only by softening into a relaxed presence at the retreat that I realised how stressed I was before. It turns out that opening a new business while planning two weddings is a bit much :) Now I’m back home with refreshed energy, gratitude for the sunshine here and determination to continue returning to embodied presence again and again and again. There is no better antidote to stress than being right here, right now. Join me in August for a few events at the .healing.house.be. They will give you ample time and space into drop in your body.

“The sand does not care what your hair looks like,
the mountains don't move for any job title,
and the birds keep flying, regardless of your success.
Whether or not you make mistakes, the sun and moon are always shining.
Nature just is and welcomes you just as you are.
Being in the desert reconnects us to these truths, which allow us to feel, in the moment, unconditionally accepted.”

This beautiful piece of writing was made by my sister after our trip to the Sinai desert last year. Do you long to feel free, connected and playful too? We are so overjoyed to welcome you to join us this year for a unique trip combining yoga and creative workshops in a vast and beautiful setting! I can't wait for the magic that this trip will be. If this speaks to you, you can find more info in the link in my bio.

I always like to end a year by looking back and releasing what is no longer serving me. This year I'm taking my sweet time for that process. Whenever I feel ready, I will look inwardly to set my intentions for the year that has just started. To me, it's essential that my intentions come from a loving place, inviting in what is for the highest good. I look at what I want to manifest in different areas of my life and then consciously choose one word to accompany me as I embark on the adventure that is the new year. My word for 2022 was yielding, and I sense that my word for 2023 might be surrender.

Did you pick your word yet? If not, you're welcome to contemplate your intentions for the new year during next week's restorative class. As always, we'll finish with a sound bath using crystal singing bowls. One of the fantastic qualities of crystal bowls is that they amplify intention. So, you're welcome for a powerful, intentional first class of the year next Tuesday 📸 by

Time to slow down.

You find can reminders to slow down everywhere these days. Rightfully so, the winter season, with winter solstice as the peak of the dark, yin, soft energy, asks of us precisely that.

Yet it can be surprisingly difficult to slow down when you're in the mids of never-ending work, family visits, Christmas shopping and festivities.
It happened to me too. Even though I'm aware of the risk of getting stuck in sympathetic overdrive, that's precisely what happened. Combining three jobs, investing in personal and spiritual development, and having a personal life threw me off balance. I found myself always 'switched on', having difficulty relaxing and softening into the present moment. Until my body decided it was enough, and I caught a stomach bug. For a week, I had to surrender, rest and recover. Slowly I've been finding my feet again and finally taking the time to just breathe and be.

If you're finding it hard to slow down too, know that you're not alone. I invite you to lie down on your back with your feet against a wall or on a chair or couch. Perhaps you can focus on your body in contact with the floor or on your breath. Know that even two minutes in a gentle, relaxing inversion like this can make a difference to your nervous system. So so grateful for an epic trip with my love .veg We hiked about 90 km through the desert until we reached the stunning sight of Petra.

I love being in the desert. You are so exposed to the elements, that the illusion of control falls away. Every time I’m in a desert, it shows me how to surrender and how to yield just a little more. This time I was invited to let go of my worries about the physical intensity of the trip. I was reminded that small steps take you a long way and up to unprecedented heights - some deserts have serious mountains to climb! ;)

Have you ever been in the desert? If you’re up for the adventure, keep an eye out! My talented sister .lesage and I have been working on something exciting that we’re almost ready to share!
