This is what happens if she's not in the mood of doing yoga with me: reading a book while she's occupying the whole yoga mat 😂😂😂. Have a happy Friday everyone!

Tree pose on a tree trunk. It was a really challenging one as she had to find her balance on the trunk and then in the pose 🌳She's so keen on doing tree pose wherever she goes. I believe P likes doing it because it improves balance and stability in the legs.

Shape matching game is a simple fun activity for toddlers and preschoolers that you can set up in minutes with objects from your household. Puzzles, shape matching activities are great brain teasers and they help develop abstract and spatial thinking.

If your child is bored with the good old stacking game then make this fun extension to make it more exciting! Just wrap the stacking rings in tin foil and let your kid explore the new texture, unwrap the rings, develop fine motor skills and enjoy! This activity is great for hand-eye coordination, color recognition and also for practicing pre-buttoning skills! Enjoy ☺️thanks for this great idea .with.hazel

Weighty whale ( or bridge pose) is great for strengthening the back and the glutes and opening up the heart. P is so proud of herself being able to do this pose. Tongue out is a must 😂😂😂.

Since the lockdown started we have done this fun science experiment every week! This is an easy-to-set-up activity; you'll only need baking soda, vinegar and food coloring. You can put food coloring in the vinegar but here I've put it under the baking soda so when P squeezed the vinegar on top the color would just pop-up and surprise her. She loves to use her squeezing equipment, spoons and cups. She has learned cause and effect, improved her fine motor skills, developed hand and eye coordination and had lots of fun! I can highly recommend this activity if you want to keep your kids busy for quite a while. Adult supervision is required. Thanks for the fantastic idea 🥰

Star pose works on balance, core strength and increases concentration. You can even sing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' while your child is holding the pose. It's a lovely pose to add to your yoga poses repertoire 🌟 @ Leuven, Belgium

Butterfly is one of our favorite poses! Sit on your buttocks with the spine upright and bend your legs so that the soles of your feet come together. Gently flap your legs up and down like the wings of a butterfly🦋 This pose is great for hips, knees and inner thighs.

Two easy yoga poses to practice today: tree pose and cobra/snake pose. P can hold tree pose by herself but about a month ago she still needed our support by holding her hand. Tree pose develops balance skills, strengthens core muscles and improves concentration. Cobra pose strengthens back muscles, opens the heart and the chest. Enjoy! 🥰 @ Leuven, Belgium

About Me

I have been practicing yoga for almost ten years and a few years ago I started to teach it to children. I have completed “Teaching mindfulness and yoga to children” at the Special Yoga Foundation in London and last year I finished the Kidding Around Yoga training in Brussels. These trainings helped me to fine tune my knowledge and tailor it to the needs of children.

At the beginning of this year I have also done a specialization course in baby and toddler yoga as I wanted to be able to share yoga and meditation with the littlest ones, too. Of course I had an extra motivation as my daughter, Panka, was born in 2017 September. She is my guinea pig since I share everything that I learned with her. We do yoga everyday! Her responses were mostly positive so far but naturally there are days when she is not in the mood of doing yoga, and THAT’S OK! Then it’s only me who does yoga on the mat while she’s playing next to me.

One of the things I always want to remind parents is that it is absolutely fine if their child is not in the mood to do yoga. They will always take away as much as they need from the yoga class. Maybe the following day or week you will see them doing down dog or tree pose and you will be more than pleased to watch them doing yoga!

As a yoga teacher my intention is to teach yoga in a fun way: we dance, march, jog, shake, hop, jump, and limbo while practicing traditional yoga poses, breathing techniques and mindfulness exercises. I hope that I will be able to help children, their parents, and caregivers to find their way to feel calmer, happier and more peaceful.
