🎉 Major Victory for Road Safety!

The European Parliament has approved mandatory first aid and CPR training for all new drivers across the EU!

This landmark directive (Position EU No 8/2025) means millions of drivers will now be equipped with life-saving skills, ready to act in those critical first minutes of a road accident.

The ERC and EFA have advocated for this change for years. Why? Because bystander intervention saves lives. Early CPR can double or triple cardiac arrest survival rates, and many road accident victims could be saved with immediate assistance.

The new law requires all driving license applicants to demonstrate “basic knowledge of first aid, in particular CPR.” Member States can exempt those who complete certified practical training, encouraging hands-on skills over theory alone.

This is more than policy, it’s a commitment to turning every driver into a potential lifesaver.

Op zaterdag 25 oktober 2025 zijn tijdens het congres van de Nederlandse Reanimatie Raad de nieuwe richtlijnen bekend gemaakt. De nieuwe richtlijnen zijn een vertaling van de ERC/ILCOR richtlijnen naar de Nederlandse situatie. Dit zijn verbeteringen en aanpassingen op basis van de nieuwste wetenschappelijke inzichten. Het lijken soms details, 𝐦𝐚𝐚𝐫 𝐣𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐳𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬 𝐤𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐭 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐳𝐨𝐫𝐠!⁣⁣

Enkele voorbeelden van veranderingen van het richtlijnen 2025 boekje:⁣⁣

- Het bevat een nieuw hoofdstuk met cijfers over reanimatie in Nederland (epidemiologie)⁣⁣
- Starten en niet starten is een apart hoofdstuk in de richtlijn⁣⁣
- Elk hoofdstuk begint met de kernboodschap (waarmee maak jij het verschil) en daarna een opsomming van de belangrijkste veranderingen⁣⁣
- Ook in de BLS (net zoals in de specialistische reanimatie) zijn er een aantal bijzondere omstandigheden beschreven⁣⁣
- Preventie van de reanimatie krijgt meer aandacht bij kinderen en volwassenen. 𝘋𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘦 𝘫𝘦 𝘷𝘰𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘰𝘮𝘵!⁣⁣
