NHV Group NHV is an international helicopter transport services company, specialised in B-to-B aviation service NHV’s main focus is on the oil and gas industry.

The NHV group, based in Ostend Belgium, is specialized in B-to-B helicopter services and has a strong geographic presence in Europe and Western Africa. The group conducts operations out of several bases on the two continents with a team of over 550 employees. The group has a leading position in Europe as the only helicopter operator that conducts operations in every oil producing country in the region. The scope of work also includes: Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), Maritime Services, which include Search and Rescue (SAR), offshore Wind Farms and Harbor Pilot Services. Vertech Offshore and Airlift are two specialized companies within the NHV group who are leaders in their niche of flare tip replacement and power grid construction and maintenance. Aside from the helicopter operations, NHV is an approved training organization (ATO) and an official service center for our partner Airbus Helicopters. The group has a multipurpose high value fleet of 65 helicopters. Since 2012, NHV has ordered 16 helicopters of the state-of-the-art Airbus Helicopters H175 model and is the global launching customer to fly the H175. This week, NHV Group successfully passed its annual audit for ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), with zero non-conformities. A result we are genuinely proud of!

The ISO 9001 certification covers all our bases and confirms our daily focus on consistent quality, operational discipline and continuous improvement.

Our ISO 14001 certification reflects our responsibility to reduce environmental impact. Even better: the scope now also includes our Aberdeen and Esbjerg bases in addition to Ostend and Rotterdam!

Helicopter Hoisting For Offshore Wind: Deutsche Bucht Blade Repair Project Interview:

NHV Group has expanded its offshore wind operations with flights from Emden in Germany. As part of its multi-year contract with Vestas, NHV began helicopter hoist operations with the H175 in April 2025 in support of the Deutsche Bucht Blade-Repair project, marking a significant milestone in offshore wind logistics. The aircraft transports two to three teams of 3 technicians in full hoist setup and delivers steady, accurate hoist work throughout the mission, lifting the whole operation to a higher level.

With this step NHV stands as the first operator to use a super-medium aircraft in full hoist configuration for offshore wind in the North Sea. The outcome: faster access, higher safety margins and a smoother working rhythm for every maintenance team involved.

This interview brings together Vestas (Kees-Jan van Engelenburg - Lead Aviation Operations Manager NCE, and Pawel Plawski, blade repair supervisor responsible for the Deutsche Bucht project), and NHV (Bram De Backer - Commercial Director). It reflects on how helicopter hoisting, and specifically the Airbus H175, supported a complex offshore blade repair campaign, and what this means for future offshore wind operations.

10 Years of NHV in Aberdeen, A Milestone to Be Proud Of!

In September 2015, construction work began on our Aberdeen base, with our first operational flights taking place in January of 2016. Today, ten years later, we celebrate the impressive growth of this strategic location. However, the story actually started back in 2011, when one of our customers requested operations from Aberdeen. It took five years before we secured our place in Dyce.

What began with converting an existing warehouse into a hangar and temporary facilities has now evolved into NHV’s largest operation. From 2 to 7 H175 helicopters, clocking over 7,000 flight hours annually, and supported by a team of around 120 dedicated colleagues, each one essential to our success.

Aberdeen stands as a shining example of our core values: customer centricity, innovation, and flexibility. Thanks to the trust of our customers and the dedication of our team, we continue to push boundaries in offshore operations every single day.
We look back with pride and ahead with ambition. The next 10 years promise even more!

Yesterday, on 13 January 2026, NHV, together with Vestas and General Aviation Airbase, officially opened a new base at General Aviation Airbase (GAA) in Gdańsk L**h Wałęsa Airport. This marks a key milestone in supporting the rapidly growing offshore wind sector in Poland and the Baltics with a super-medium helicopter deployed.

From the GAA base, featuring a 4,000 m² high-security hangar and modern facilities for both passengers and crews, regular crew changes will be performed using one to two Airbus H175s.

The addition of the new Gdańsk base clearly reflects NHV’s long-term commitment to the region, and further strengthens our ability to support the full project lifecycle in the offshore wind market, including crew change, hoisting, and offshore medical support.

Exciting moment for NHV Group and the offshore wind sector in Poland and the Baltics!

Since July 2025, NHV has been carrying out dedicated crew change operations for Vestas for the Baltic Power Offshore Wind Farm using the state-of-the-art Airbus H175. This is a major milestone as it is the first time a super-medium helicopter is supporting offshore wind operations in Poland! We’re delivering safe, fast, and reliable transport for offshore technicians, meeting the growing demand as wind farms move further offshore and turbines continue to scale up.

Operations are based at General Aviation Airbase (GAA) at Gdańsk L**h Wałęsa Airport. Weekly crew changes are performed using one to two H175s.

NHV is proud to announce the award of a long-term contract with DMAé to support training flights for 34F/ESHE!

Under this agreement, NHV will provide 3 to 4 Dauphin N3 helicopters, including full maintenance, Logistics and airworthiness support.

This contract builds on a proven and successful collaboration, and underlines NHV’s expertise in maintenance operations, operational reliability, and long-term support of maritime defence and training missions.

We look forward to further strengthening our partnership with the French Navy.

We are pleased to share that Ithaca has renewed its partnership with NHV for an additional five years in Aberdeen. This extension marks an important milestone. Ithaca entered our portfolio through Chevron North Sea Limited, which was the very first contract that started our Aberdeen operation. Ithaca has been central to our Aberdeen journey, and this new extension proudly takes our partnership to the 15-year milestone!

As part of the Vestas He Dreiht Offshore Wind Project, NHV successfully carried out a planned H175 helicopter crew change with a deck landing on the SOV Purus Chinook.

This operation highlights how helicopter services can effectively complement SOV-based logistics, enhancing technician welfare and ensuring operational continuity during offshore wind construction.

We’re delighted to announce that NHV has been awarded a new contract with RWE!
Our H175 helicopter will be deployed to support crew change flights for the Nordseecluster Offshore Wind Farm during its construction phase.
The project will commence April 2026 and will continue through Q3 of 2026.
