One of the main issues when it comes about weight loss is a …wrong perception, affecting women especially in the second spring of their life.
While for long years slim photo-models set – and unfortunately still do – the main example for beauty (in many cases secretly facing terrible eating disorders), a form of resistance formed, as a protection mechanism:
“Fat is also beautiful” and
“It doesn’t matter if I’m fat”.
While fat-shaming and discrimination should not happen and always be sanctioned when they still do, the key words that got messed up are:
fat - slim / healthy / beautiful
Nowadays we know it:
- Being overweight is NOT healthy, even when beautiful.
- Being too skinny is NOT healthy either, even if beautiful.
The esthetics don't count here... but let's be honest, the esthetics count for everyone.
Most women I meet as a coach secretly hope to be slim (or even very slim), and would many times be ready to follow extreme regimens or diets to reach that goal even if very temporary – most of them, after years of trying, realized that after a period of very restrictive eating they will, eventually, still want to have an ice-cream, a cocktail or a slice of pizza etc.
None of them really ever dreams of a nice plate of veggies, quinoa and fish, for example, after a restrictive diet : )))
And yet, the long term healthy choice is rather ... yummy balance.
We all want to enjoy every bite, not feel restricted, remain healthy and in shape!
The main difficulty sits in accepting that the "balance" changes every day, in function of our activity levels and in function of our female changing hormones – making the perimenopause a more tricky period for losing weight healthily.
And sisters... there’s hope 🌻
Being in great shape in peri- and post- menopausal years is possible, just don't give up that thought!!
You can be fit, energetic, healthy - and a really beautiful version of yourself!
You'll need a bit of patience, consistent behavior, love for every stage you're crossing, each day ❤️
And yes - taking it seriously, but not so seriously, as losing weight should never become an extra stress in your day!
