In this context, BE-SAFE highlights the urgent need to reduce the use of benzodiazepines and sleeping pills in older people👩‍🦳👨‍🦳. Science provides clear insights, especially in older populations, and guides safer alternatives.
To build a safer future, we must trust scientific evidence, transform prescribing practices, and collaborate across disciplines🩺

brings together patients, healthcare professionals, carers, policymakers and system leaders to:

The EU BE-SAFE project was featured on🎙️ through the participation of Fernández a specialist in patient engagement in research and Spanish coordinator of the project. In the 'Diga-li Ciència' programme, she spoke about the BE-SAFE project and the importance of deprescribing and reducing the use of sleeping pills, hypnotic sedatives, and Z-drugs (BZRA)💊 in older adults with sleep problems😴

🎤During the interview, she explained that BE-SAFE is currently being implemented in six European countries. She also highlighted the need to train healthcare professionals 👩‍⚕️and empower patients and caregivers, but also engaged researchers and policymakers to apply this knowledge and promote safer, more patient-centred care.

🎧 Vi som driver BE-SAFE-prosjektet mener at for en trygg alderdom er det viktig å kjenne til risikoen ved bruk av sovemedisiner, samt å lære hvordan man kan sove godt uten medisiner.
