Cuffing Season Radar😍🥰

Cooler temperatures and decreasing daylight sets the perfect scene for the brain to crave a cuddle partner!

Entering the fall season causes melatonin and serotonin shifts, nudging mood and energy toward comfort. Simultaneously, dopamine and oxytocin increases with touch and eye contact (that’s why everyone encounter seems like a perfect match).

Our brains basically turn into a scanning radar for potential love interests.

Endings with Purpose.🌱

A short and sweet reminder that endings can create beautiful beginnings.

It’s rarely easy to close a chapter, but growth doesn’t always look graceful. Sometimes it’s quiet pauses, hard goodbyes, or slow rebuilding.

Trust that what feels uncertain now is just making space for something that fits who you’re becoming.💛

Clockwork Chemistry!🧠

An extra hour of sleep isn’t just a luxury, it’s your brain recalibrating!

When the clocks fall back, your brain spends more time in slow-wave sleep. It’s at this stage when deep sleep occurs leading to cell repair, clearing of toxins through the glymphatic system and locking in memories.

That extra hour fine-tunes attention, mood, and energy, leaving you clearer and more balanced when you wake up. Have you noticed?

Day In The Life!🧠💛

Here’s a quick snapshot of a calm office day for a psychologist and neuroscientist.

We start by setting the scene: making sure the room is welcoming and cozy. Then, it’s time for report writing and testing analysis.

After a loaded morning, we’re off to the gym for a mental health break and before heading back to the office for more clients.

Rounding things off with a little admin and we are done for the day. Whew!💛

Spooky Science 👻🧠🎃

That mix of fear and thrill isn’t just in your head, it’s in your brain chemistry.

When your amygdala senses danger, it triggers your stress response, but your brain also releases dopamine. That chemical cocktail sharpens focus, speeds reaction time, and leaves you wired with excitement once the threat passes.

It’s why haunted houses, roller coasters, and horror movies can feel terrifying and addictive all at once.

Bass Drop🎧🎶

Low frequencies travel through your body and stimulate the vestibular system, which helps you sense movement and balance. They also light up emotional centres like the amygdala and nucleus accumbens, both key players in arousal and reward.

Your brain links those deep vibrations with motion, energy, and anticipation, so the music doesn’t just sound loud, it wakes up your brain circuits.

That’s why sitting still when the bass hits feels almost impossible.

To-do list jitters!📋

That uneasy feeling when you leave something unfinished is your brain biology at work! The brain is wired for closure, so when you start a task it opens a mental loop and keeps it active until you finish it. We call this the Zeigarnik effect.

Your prefrontal cortex tracks the task, your limbic system applies pressure, and because dopamine only hits at completion, your brain keeps tapping you on the shoulder until it’s done.

This is why an unfinished task can hijack your focus, your mood, and even your peace.😮‍💨

A walk down memory lane💛📚🙏🏾

✨ Mental Health Awareness Month✨

What began as a season of confusion, hospital visits, and recovery quietly became the foundation for everything that followed.

Years later, that experience would evolve into a deep curiosity about the brain. How it heals, how it adapts, how it makes us who we are.

Every lesson, every step, every chapter led here.

Hurricane Brain🌀

Those restless nights before or during a hurricane are not just nerves. Your brain’s amygdala, the alarm centre, stays switched on when it senses danger.

Even if you feel safe indoors, storm alerts and pressure drops keep your stress system active, blocking the deep sleep cycles you need to restore.

It is why people often wake groggy or wired after a storm. Your brain has been standing guard all night, ready to react.
