The presentations from Clarity have focused on two topics so far: 1. Clarity was grateful to be invited to participate in SMARTER Brunei’s Autism Awareness Conference on Saturday. The event brought together an amazing community of neurodiverse people, supportive parents, educators, mental health professionals, medical specialists, and government bodies. The Minister of Health was on hand to support the event, which was flawlessly organised and orchestrated. What an amazing community of smart, caring people who are making the world a better place. .brunei .ishwellbeing

World Mental Health Day focused attention on mental health, those who need it, and the professionals who support those in need. But there is another group of champions making a difference. We’d like to recognize and appreciate all our clients who talk openly about their mental health and encourage others to look after their own mental health and seek help when needed. These champions help to normalize mental health conversations and reduce the stigma. High fives to all these mental health champions!

It was our pleasure to be part of JPMC’s Work Well Summit where we explored Bridging the Gap: Mental Health Strategies across Generations in Organisations. It was an insightful and thought-provoking conversation about how the generations are different in how they approach mental health and what this means for organisations. A skilled moderator and knowledgeable panelists made for a great experience. We look forward to more conversations about mental health across the generations.

Dean has left Brunei for new adventures but we know he has made a positive difference in many lives with his deeply caring and enthusiastic approach to counselling. Best wishes to him in his next chapter, and many thanks for the invaluable contribution to mental health and well-being in Brunei.

There are myths and stereotypes that create barriers to people seeking counselling. In truth, a counselling appointment is a lot like a talk with a friend who is safe, non-judgemental, empathic, and validating. In addition to that, counsellors have skills to help you better know yourself, understand problems, and find solutions. Many of our clients look forward to their appointments. They say things like, “I’ve been looking forward to this all week. I have so much to talk about,” and “The ideas we discussed last time really worked.” If you want a safe place to talk, where you will be understood, consider talking to a counsellor.
