🔴 La Legión de Lucha contra el Cáncer de Tarija alertó sobre un preocupante incremento de casos de cáncer en la boca, paladar y garganta, que podrían estar relacionados con el consumo de coca machucada.

La representante de la institución, Lic. María Rosa Paz, informó que recientemente la organización brindó apoyo a cuatro personas con este tipo de diagnósticos y señaló que “antes estos cánceres eran muy esporádicos, pero ahora se presentan con mayor frecuencia, especialmente en personas que coquean”.

The formation of the head and face is a highly coordinated process that begins in the third week of embryonic development. Understanding this process is essential for dentists and dental students, since many orofacial conditions have their origin in these early stages.

🔹 Main aspects of craniofacial development:
✅ Nose: develops from the frontonasal prominence and the medial and lateral nasal processes, fusing around weeks 5–7.
✅ Mouth: originates from the stomodeum, the primitive depression that will give rise to the oral cavity and connect with the pharynx.
✅ Maxilla and mandible: derived from the first pharyngeal arch. The maxillary processes form the upper jaw, while the mandible arises from Meckel’s cartilage.
✅ Between weeks 4 and 8, most facial morphogenesis occurs.
