Graduou-se em Engenharia Agronômica pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa (1987), com mestrado em Solos e Nutrição de Plantas pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa (1990) e PhD em Soil Science pela University of Reading, Inglaterra (1994). Foi Professor substituto na Universidade de Londres (Royal Holloway College), em 1993 e 1994, e Professor Visitante das Universidades de Western Australia (2000) e Cambridge (2012). Realizou Pós-Doutoramentos em Mineralogia e Química de solos e Ecologia de solos da Amazônia e Antártica, nas Universidades de Londres, Western Australia e Cambridge, em 1994, 2000 e 2012. Professor Titular da Universidade Federal de Viçosa, ministrando cursos na área de Pedologia, Geomorfologia e Ecologia da paisagem.

Dr. Schaedfer is graduated in Agronomic Engineering from Universidade Federal de Viçosa (1987), with a Masters in Soil and Plant Nutrition from the Federal University of Viçosa (1990) and PhD in Soil Science from the University of Reading, England (1994). He was a substitute Professor at the University of London (Royal Holloway College) in 1993 and 1994, and Visiting Professor at the Universities of Western Australia (2000) and Cambridge (2012). He completed postdoctoral studies in Mineralogy and Soil Chemistry and Soil Ecology in the Amazon and Antarctic, in the Universities of London, Western Australia and Cambridge, in 1994, 2000 and 2012. He is a Full Professor at the Federal University of Viçosa, teaching courses in Pedology , Geomorphology and Landscape Ecology.
