It’s Veterinary Technician Week! 💙

This week, we celebrate the incredible vet techs who keep our furry friends healthy and loved every single day.

From comforting nervous pets, assisting in surgeries, running lab work, monitoring anesthesia, taking X-rays, and being strong patient advocates. Our veterinary technicians are the heart of the hospital.

Their compassion, skill, and dedication make everything possible.

Thank you for all that you do for the animals, and for our hospital. 💙

Due to the effects of Tropical Storm Imelda, Caves Village Veterinary Hospital will be closed today, Monday, September 29th.

Most cats and dogs experience little to no side effects after receiving their vaccines. When reactions do occur, they are generally mild and short-lived things like slight tiredness, mild swelling at the injection site, or a temporary loss of appetite.

If you notice any of these signs, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Vaccinations are an important step in keeping your pet healthy and protected but it’s always good to know what to look out for.

Keeping your cat up to date on vaccinations is one of the most important steps you can take to ensure a long, healthy life for them.

Kitten Vaccine Schedule:
Your kitten will need 3 sets of vaccines over a 6-week period, given every 3 weeks, starting at just 6 weeks of age.

Vaccinations are one of the easiest ways to prevent serious illnesses and give your furry friend a long, healthy life.

At Caves Village Veterinary Hospital, we provide microchipping for pets of any age. A microchip is a safe and permanent way to help reunite you with your furry friend if they ever get lost.

About Microchips:
Tiny—about the size of a grain of rice.
Painless to insert—similar to a vaccination.
No batteries, no power, no moving parts.
Transmits a unique ID number when scanned by a vet or shelter.

Why Microchip?
Collars and tags can fall off or be removed, but a microchip stays with your pet for life. Unlike GPS, it provides your contact info so your pet can be returned safely.

Happy National Mutt Day! Or Happy Potcake Day 😉

Our beloved Potcakes aren’t just dogs. They’re family, protectors, and the heart of our islands. But thousands of them still need homes, food, and medical care.

That’s where the Bahamas Humane Society and BAARK! And other rescue’s step in. They work tirelessly to rescue, feed, and spay/neuter our stray dogs and cats to give them the best shot at life.

You can help by donating your time, money, or supplies, or support BAARK’s spay/neuter programs to break the cycle and save lives.

Every Potcake deserves a full belly, a safe bed, and a forever home.

Poison Prevention for Pet Parents!

Did you know some common house and garden plants could be deadly for your furry friends? 🐾

Azalea – Can cause drooling, vomiting, diarrhea & seizures.

Sago Palm – May lead to liver failure & can be fatal.

Oleander – Toxic to both pets & humans, even in small amounts.

Snake Plant – Causes nausea, swelling of the throat, and vomiting.

Keep these plants out of reach and protect your pets from danger!

If you suspect poisoning, contact your vet or an emergency animal hospital immediately.
