I have to admit I was a bit nervous about bringing Alec to the gym, but I wanted some mama and son time. I was pleasantly surprised by his enthusiasm; We had a great time 😀!!

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that infants, children, and teens make time for physical activity daily.

✨ Infants: 30 minutes of tummy time while awake and thirty minutes spread throughout the day.

✨ 1-3 years: 60 or more minutes of unstructured physical activity with 30 or more minutes of structured activity led by an adult daily.

✨ 3-5 years: 3+ hours per day of activity (light, moderate, vigorous) Anything that encourages growth and development

✨6-17 years: 60+ minutes per day of aerobic activity; playground, bike riding, dancing, baseball.

Muscle-strengthening activities 3 days a week: Tug of War, climbing, gymnastics or free weights.

Physical activity prevents obesity, diabetes, promotes better sleep, improved school focus and leads to an overall improvement in well-being.

Get moving!

Happy World Breastfeeding Week! 🤱

On August 1st, 1990, policy makers from 32 governments and 10 UN and other agencies adopted the Innocenti Declaration on the Protection, Promotion and support of breastfeeding.

World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every 1-7 August in commemoration of this.

The theme for this year is “Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All.”

I had the pleasure of being invited to shed light on this campaign yesterday with the Rotary Club of South East Nassau.

This year we want to really recognize breastfeeding mothers, ensure they are seen and heard, and share relatable human experiences about breastfeeding and the importance of multi-level support.

This support includes:

✨Policies and attitudes that value women and breastfeeding.

✨A women and breastfeeding-friendly health care system.

✨Respect for women’s autonomy and her right to breastfeed anytime, anywhere!

✨Solidarity and community support.
