Yesterday, at the 9th International Workshop on Adolescence, SRHR & HIV 2025, Research Assistant Maipelo Tsuaneng presented on depression screening among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Botswana.

Findings from the BASE Study revealed a substantial burden of moderate to severe depression in this population — with 1 in 4 AGYW screening positive for a level of depression that warrants further clinical evaluation.
