Endometriosis And Diet

🎗Avoid processed food as they contain certain additives and preservatives that may contribute to inflammation.


🎗Eat balanced nutritious diet consisting of anti-inflammatory foods (food rich in vitamins and minerals) include fruits and vegetables such as legumes,broccoli as they help naturally to control hormones which play a key role in endometriosis symptoms .

Some of the tissue shed during the period flows the Fallopian tube into other areas of the body such as pelvis.

ENDOMETRIOSIS AND PREGNANCY

During Pregnancy, endometriosis increases the possibility of:

*Miscarriage (about 13% higher than normal risk of miscarriage)

*High blood pressure

*Low birth weight

*Placenta previa (Placenta grows over the opening of the cervix)

*Preterm (early) birth

HOWEVER it's also possible you may not experience any complications during pregnancy with endometriosis.

i) hormonal contraceptives( birth control, vaginal rings, patches etc
ii) IUD
iii) The patch

SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF ENDOMETRIOSIS

Endometriosis should be viewed as a chronic diseaithat requires a life-long management plan with the goal of maximising the use of medical treatment and avoiding repeat of surgical procedures.
However it is important to note that surgery more effective in reducing pain in patients with more advanced endometriosis. Surgical management of endometriosis requires careful consideration of the indicators of surgery.

INDICATORS
Surgical intervention for endometriotic pain is indicated when patient:
1. Does not respond to, declines, or has contraindication to medical therapy.

2. Has an acute adnexal event (adnexal torsion, ovarian cyst rupture.)

3. Has invasive disease involving the bowel, bladder.

4. Has or is suspected to have an ovarian endometriosis >3cm, especially in patients for whom the unceryof the diagnosis affects the management.

5. Patient with infertility and associated factors (i.e pain or pelvic mass) caused by endometriosis.
