Dr Sikhulile Moyo of Botswana Harvard AIDS Institute Partnership has been named on TIME Magazine’s annual TIME100 list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Dr Moyo is one of the local medical professionals credited with the discovery of the B.1.1.529 SARS-CoV-2 variant, subsequently named Omicron.

Meet Motswedi Anderson, AKA HeBzee, a proud member of the and a SANTHE Africa Postdoc Fellow at Botswana Harvard AIDS Institute Partnership who studies occult hepatitis B infection and its causes.

Motswedi highlights another important role for men in the fight for gender equity in science. As we all know, men still hold much of the power in scientific fields. So we call on them to get involved in the fight for gender equity by sponsoring female trainees and advocating for female successors in their positions of power!
