BNOC AND SPECIAL OLYMPICS LAUNCH OVEP IN MAUN

THEME: Women Play Women Lead

Today, the Botswana National Olympic Committee in partnership with Special Olympics is please announce the Launch the OVEP at Moremi Primary School in Maun. The program reached 146 girl athletes, bringing the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect into their everyday experiences.

We appreciate the leadership of Sharon Reakae, National Director of Special Olympics Botswana, whose collaboration with our BNOC Development & Education programs continues to strengthen the impact of OVEP across the country.

A standout moment of the day was Oreeditse Marakakgoro leading the Olympic Values Education session with confidence and warmth — a powerful example of women guiding and uplifting other young women.

Girl Athlete Leaders also played an inspiring role, co-creating the program and meaningfully leading parts of the sessions. Their presence and leadership reflected the spirit of OVEP at its best.

Today, Maun saw the true power of values, partnership, and girls’ leadership.

Special thanks goes to Bank of America, our official sponsor for this event.

Team Botswana Set for the 4th African Youth Games – Luanda 2025!

Botswana is gearing up for one of the continent’s biggest youth sporting stages as Team Botswana prepares to compete at the 4th African Youth Games, taking place 10–20 December 2025 in Luanda, Angola — the first Lusophone country to host the Games, which will also mark 50 years of Angolan independence.

This prestigious multi-sport event will bring together up to 54 African nations and talented young athletes aged 14–17, competing across 33 sport disciplines in six host cities including Luanda, Benguela, and Bengo.

For our young athletes, the Games are not only a platform for excellence but also a pathway to future success as they serve as qualifiers for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. Beyond competition, the event fosters unity, cultural exchange, and the celebration of African sport.

Team Botswana is ready to shine. Let’s rally behind our rising stars!
