💊Committee Update!💊

Last month, the Committee for Supply Chain Management assisted 2 supply chain partners: Central Medical Stores (CMS) and Global Health Supply Chain - Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) in logistics training of 13 new personnel. The new Health Logistics Officers and Site Monitors will be placed across 11 districts in Botswana and tasked with site level support and monitoring of supply chain activities! This 5 day training also included a visit to a local Gaborone clinic, which gave trainees a chance to appreciate the various successes and challenges of storage, recording, and reporting of health commodities. At the conclusion of the training, all the participants were certified and eager to start their journey as supply chain heroes! We are excited to see their work in action as they begin these important positions! Way to go team!

💊last but certainly not least!💊

Let’s welcome Cathie our new monitoring and evaluation manager!

“I’m originally from Long Island, New York, but I have been a bit of a vagabond and lived in various places around the world, including on a cruise ship for 5 years. After working as a systems administrator and international project manager for 15 years, I made a career change and attended Oregon Health & Science University. There I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Nursing and focused my research projects on public health issues in the area. I’m currently serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the District AIDS Coordinating (DAC) office. I’m a data geek and a teacher at heart and am excited to use both these passions in helping y’all improve SCM at your site, as well as helping you report it so we can accurately measure all our hard work.

A fun fact about me: when I’m not gallivanting around the globe, I enjoy playing various upper brass instruments and SCUBA diving!”

💊another one!💊

Let’s welcome Michael, our new program implementation co-manager!

“I am a Local Government and Capacity Building (LGCB) volunteer serving at a District AIDS Coordinating (DAC) Office. I hail from Menlo Park, California, though I have lived in several different countries in the past few years. My background is in global public health and I most recently worked with the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland before joining the Peace Corps. I hold a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) in Health Systems from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in International Affairs and Global Health from the George Washington University.

I joined the Committee for Supply Chain Management after identifying and responding to an issue of poor condom storage at my site. I have teamed up with my local warehouse to train clinical staff throughout my district on health commodity logistics management. I look forward to assisting other volunteers design and implement supply chain management projects at their respective sites and I hope to improve intra-district coordination.

A fun fact about me: I have a great passion for travel, so I love experiencing new cultures and learning how to cook their cuisines!”
