Cerumen (Earwax)
Cerumen is the brownish/orange/yellowish/grayish waxy substance secreted in the ear canal.
It helps moisturize the skin in the ear canal, cleanses and protects the ear against bacteria and fungi.
The ear gets rid of excess cerumen by pushing it out tht rough jaw movements like when we chew, talk etc.
Sometimes we build up a lot more cerumen faster than the ear clears it out…this can lead to cerumen impaction.
Signs of cerumen impaction;
- decreased hearing
- tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
- feeling of fullness in the ear
- ear pain
Please visit your local health care facility to have cerumen removed professionally to avoid causing damage to your ears.

NB: Avoid using Q tips (ear buds) or sticking anything in your ear.
