It is with profound sadness, yet deep gratitude for a life of purpose and devotion, that we announce the passing of Mr. Alvan Llewellyn Steven, who transitioned peacefully on January 21st, 2026, known and loved by many as “Dubsy”, “Red Bwai”, “Jo”, or “Joseph, a devoted husband, a steadfast father, a proud grandfather, a loyal son, a brother, and a true friend.
Alvan was predeceased by his grandparents: Jocelyn Blease Marin, Estevan Mahler, Agnes Burns Obrien, and Leopold Steven.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents: Maurice and Mary Steven; wife: Tania Steven; children: Francesca, Destiney, Zaine, and Elisabeth; daughter-in-law: Jaymee Fernandez, and his treasured grandson.
Alvan’s legacy lives on through his siblings: Judith, Deborah, Karel, Wayne, and Maurice Steven Jr., Joycelyn Steven Codd, and Elizabeth McFarlane, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, his close companions, childhood friends, and his extended circle of friends in San Pedro, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family whose lives were enriched by his presence.
A family gathering will be held at the family home on Saturday, January 24th, at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral service will take place on Sunday, January 25th, at 10:00 a.m., at the Santa Elena Cemetery.
As a tribute to Alvan’s life and spirit, the family respectfully requests that attendees wear shades of blue and white.
The family extends their deepest appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff of K.H.M.H.A., with special thanks to the teams in the Intensive Care Unit and the General Medical Ward, for their professionalism, compassion, and unwavering support during Alvan’s final days.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7.
Alvan Llewellyn Steven’s memory will remain a guiding force in the hearts of all who knew him.
