You heard it here. Dairy increases your risk of breast cancer. Soy does not 🥛

Some research suggests a strong link between dairy consumption and breast cancer. For example, a 2020 observational study of 52,795 females who consumed both dairy and soy products found an increased risk of breast cancer with dairy but no association with soy. The strongest rise in risk was associated with consuming only up to two-thirds of an eight-ounce cup of milk.

Milk contains insulin-like growth factor (IGF), which is a hormone that helps cows to build tissue and bone. The study authors suggest that the proliferative nature of IGF-1 in milk is a probable causal factor in breast cancer.

Other studies have linked IGF-1 to prostate cancer and colon cancer.

Gallstones aren’t really caused by consuming too much cholesterol.

They actually form when you don’t have enough bile salts. Without adequate bile salts, bile can become thick and stagnant, increasing the likelihood of bile sludge or gallstone formation, even when cholesterol levels appear normal.

Several factors can influence bile production and flow, including:
-Low-fat diets
-High carbohydrate intake
-Rapid weight loss
-Elevated estrogen
-Elevated cortisol

In addition, gut health plays an essential role in maintaining optimal bile composition.

To help maintain a healthy gallbladder and avoid gallstones, eat bile-supportive foods like bitter greens, cruciferous vegetables, and beets.
