If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like when compassion meets clinical expertise: Meagan is a great example.

With a background in nursing, advanced training in counselling psychology, and a passion for helping children, teens, adults, and families, Meagan brings a rare blend of heart and skill to her work.

She’s Play Therapy, EMDR, and ART trained, grounded in trauma-informed care, and deeply attuned to creative approaches like expressive arts and play. Her clients don’t need to “have it all figured out.” They just need a safe, welcoming place to begin and that’s exactly what Meagan creates.

When she’s not in session, you might find her exploring with her husband or befriending every animal she meets.

We’re thrilled to have Meagan on the team.

If you’d like to work with her or learn more about her approach, visit our website or reach out to connect.

March has a funny way of sneaking up on you.

Even nearly two weeks after Family Day week, many families are still noticing that the shift back into regular routines feels harder than expected.

Mornings might be slower, emotions might sit closer to the surface, and things that felt manageable before can suddenly feel big again.

This doesn’t mean anything is “wrong,” and it doesn’t mean you’ve missed something as a parent.

It simply reflects that transitions take time, especially for children who are still learning how to move between rest, connection, and structure.

Every family experiences this in their own way. You’re not the only one noticing it, and you’re not alone in wondering how long it will take to settle back in.

Gentleness, understanding, and time can make a difference as routines slowly find their rhythm again.

This Valentine’s Day, we’re looking at love through a different lens. 🕊️

Often, we think of love as a grand gesture or a romantic ideal.

But in the context of growth and mental health, love is something much more grounded: it is connection. It’s the feeling of being truly heard without judgment.

It’s the safety of a shared space where you don’t have to hide the messy parts.

Whether it’s the bond between a parent and child, the trust built with a therapist, or the kindness you show yourself, that connection is where the real healing begins.

Children often express their inner world through creativity.

Through art, movement, and play, they explore emotions, experiences, and relationships in ways that feel natural and safe.

This International Play Therapy Week, we’re sharing a new blog that looks at how expressive arts are used within therapy and play therapy to support children and teens.

If you’re curious about how creative expression can support emotional understanding and regulation, this post walks through what expressive arts look like in therapy and why they can be so helpful for kids and teens.

You can read the full blog here https://www.carepsychology.com/blog/artinplaytherapy

We’re also offering Expressive Arts and Anxiety groups for ages 7–9 and 10–12 starting March 2026.

Play therapy gives children a safe, supportive way to express emotions, build skills, and process experiences when words are hard to find.

Having a growing team trained in this approach means more access, more support, and more opportunities for healing through play.

This week, we’re celebrating Play Therapy Week and the powerful role play has in supporting children’s emotional well-being.

For many children, play is how they communicate, explore feelings, and make sense of their world. Play therapy offers a safe, supportive space where kids don’t need the right words to be understood.

At CARE Psychology, play therapy is a thoughtful, evidence-based approach that helps children build emotional awareness, coping skills, and confidence.

Learn more about Play Therapy Week through the Canadian Association for Play Therapy and join us in celebrating the healing power of play.

At the heart of CARE Psychology is Dr. Crystal Dittrick, the founder who shaped this space to feel calm, kind, and grounded in connection.

With over 20 years of experience and training in EMDR, play therapy, and creative trauma work, Crystal brings both depth and warmth to her work. What people often remember most, though, is how safe and at ease they feel with her.

She believes therapy should be a place to be curious, not perform.

If you’d like to learn more about her story and what led her to this work, visit the link in our bio.

Anxiety doesn’t always look like “worry.”

Sometimes it shows up as a stomachache before school, trouble sleeping, or bursts of frustration that seem to come out of nowhere.

For parents, it can be hard to know what’s really going on, and even harder to know how to help.

That’s where expressive arts can make all the difference.

We’re excited to be offering an Anxiety and Art Therapy Group at CARE Psychology in Airdrie, starting February, for children ages 7–9 and 10–12.

This group is facilitated by Meagan Stiff, a Canadian Certified Counsellor and Registered Nurse, who brings a compassionate, developmentally informed approach to supporting children through anxiety.

This group offers children the chance to:
-Explore their feelings in a supportive environment
-Connect with peers who understand what they’re experiencing
-Learn practical strategies they can use at home, at school, and in friendships

If you’ve been looking for a supportive next step for your child, this may be a great place to start.

We invite you to reach out for a free consultation to see if this group is the right fit for your family.
