Every winter I hear the same thing:
“I think I threw my back out shoveling snow”.
Sometimes that’s true. But often, the snow was just the final straw.
Cold weather and sudden exertion can expose underlying spinal stress that’s been building up quietly for years, from posture, work habits, sitting too much, or repetitive strain. When the spine isn’t moving or functioning as well as it should, the body has less room for error.
Pain doesn’t always mean something new happened. Sometimes it means something old finally got your attention.
Looking after your spine isn’t just about getting out of pain. It’s about helping your body adapt better to life, whether that’s winter weather, work demands, or everyday activity.
If winter has made your back or neck speak up, it might be a good time to listen and learn what your spine needs.
A chiropractic assessment can help determine whether there’s more going on than simple soreness.
