I recently saw a video about the connection between Black womanhood and transness - it took me back to when I finally thought about the concept of gender - my connection to the ideals of what womanhood was.

It was the first time I realized that the concept “womanhood” really didn’t include me.

Being trans and non binary changed my perspective on myself and the world - being a femme le***an changed the way I move through the world.

And I dedicate this life to my transcestors: the ones who had to choose safety over existing as their truest selves, and the ones who risked everything to pave the way.

Our favourite local hangout spot, Pe Metawe Games, turns five at the end of the month 🥳 I'm excited to say that they've invited us to come celebrate with them! So come enjoy a pay-what-you-can Chubby Fem Thrift bin event on March 28th & 29th (and maybe stay for some games, too!)
Unlike our website, clothing will be unwashed and not sorted by size. You can expect some treasures in these bins! Bring a bag and just help yourself - there will be QR codes to scan if you'd like to donate (totally optional!)
We are incredibly blessed to have the amazing community hub that is be a part of our community and neighbourhood 💕 They've become a bit of a second home for us and we know we aren't the only ones that feel that way - so let's celebrate the fact that they've made this city a brighter place for the past five years!!

Blenderz is a one-of-a-kind thrift store with incredibly accessible prices. Pay by the pound for their clothing that’s sorted by measurements instead of gender, or check out their sewing classes for a fun way to learn something new with a friend! (I’m going to their plus-size sewing class on Feb 21st - you should come!)

Aside from the comfort of my own home, Pe Metawe is my favourite place to spend my time. They have a low-key, cozy environment - plus, a huge selection of boardgames if that’s your thing! Pe Metawe allows you to bring in your own drinks and snacks, and has private rooms you and your friends can use (for a great price!)

📖
Love a good indie book store and this one is an Edmonton gem! They prioritize Indigenous, Black, racialized, and q***r and trans authors and have an amazing selection that will have you not wanting to stop browsing! We love the cozy atmosphere and that they are a worker’s co-operative!
