Blenderz is a one-of-a-kind thrift store with incredibly accessible prices. Pay by the pound for their clothing that’s sorted by measurements instead of gender, or check out their sewing classes for a fun way to learn something new with a friend! (I’m going to their plus-size sewing class on Feb 21st - you should come!)

Aside from the comfort of my own home, Pe Metawe is my favourite place to spend my time. They have a low-key, cozy environment - plus, a huge selection of boardgames if that’s your thing! Pe Metawe allows you to bring in your own drinks and snacks, and has private rooms you and your friends can use (for a great price!)

📖
Love a good indie book store and this one is an Edmonton gem! They prioritize Indigenous, Black, racialized, and q***r and trans authors and have an amazing selection that will have you not wanting to stop browsing! We love the cozy atmosphere and that they are a worker’s co-operative!

Whether it’s for brunch, high tea, or just coffee and a chat; Old Beverly Cafe is one of the most beautifully decorated spots to hang out with your pals. They’re also Black-owned, accessible, and have gender neutral washrooms.

Felice cafe is one of our favourite places to frequent - with friendly staff, cool beverages to try, local sellers & community events, felice is an Edmonton treasure we couldn’t live without!

Moon Cafe and Pizza is a newer love of mine. The coffee, the food and the vibes are wonderful!

Thanks to my thrift-store owner privileges, it is rare that I’m forced to buy clothing new. This year I had to buy a pack of underwear - and it was so devastatingly expensive that I’ve made it my mission to learn to sew my own. Cause they can’t be serious lol 🫠 The truth is, even if I didn’t run Chubby Fem Thrift, I would aim to thrift exclusively - one of the things I love the most about secondhand fashion (besides sustainability, this world has enough textiles) is the ability to change and transform depending on your style, your mood, your plans, your event… When you donate or buy from a thrift store, you’re helping your community evolve! All while keeping amazing clothing out of the landfills.
Chubby Fem Thrift has so many cool events planned for the coming year (y’all ready for ep. 2?? 👀)
We’re so blessed to have this little community around us, thanks for making 2025 not completely suck💕
can’t wait to see what next year brings (pls Black baby jesus may this timeline turn away from this tom foolery)
