Visit any of the three Alliston Tim Hortons locations—157 Young St., 3 Dunham Drive, or 4894 County Road 50—from April 27 to May 3, 2026 to get your Smile Cookies and support our community.

This week, we had the pleasure of celebrating our incredible volunteers with a special tea and lunch. ☕

It was a small way to say thank you for the time, compassion, and dedication they bring to our hospital every day. Volunteers enjoyed a lovely lunch prepared by our Food Services staff, as well as a prize raffle including floral centerpieces. A token of our appreciation as a reflection of the warmth they share with patients, families, and staff daily.

We’re grateful for everything our volunteers do to make a difference!

We are pleased to announce the official launch of our Rapid Assessment Zone (RAZ) in the Emergency Department (ED) at SMH! The RAZ is a designated area within our ED space designed to reduce wait times for those experiencing minor ailments or less critical needs. SMH has evaluated the effectiveness of the RAZ approach over the past several weeks and is excited to launch it full-time.

The RAZ will operate in the Emergency Department from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week.

“We are offering the Rapid Assessment Zone to expedite care for patients with minor ailments, so that they can receive the care they need and return home sooner,” says Dr. Oswaldo Ramirez, Chief, Emergency Department. “We have created the RAZ for our community to access safe, high-quality care, quickly and efficiently,” he adds.

Emergency Department patients will continue to check in with Triage upon arrival where a member of SMH’s care team will assess eligibility for the RAZ.

This initiative supports SMH’s goals to meet the needs of the growing community and enhance the overall patient experience in their Emergency Department.
