Phase 1 is now underway at Keaton’s House - Paul Paletta Children’s Hospice, including initial site setup and selective, City-approved tree work.
Here’s what that involves:
✔️ All work follows a City-approved Arborist Report & Tree Management Plan
✔️ Each tree has been individually assessed for health, safety, and site needs
✔️ The site’s natural landscape is being carefully considered throughout this phase
✔️ Invasive species are being removed, with plans to reintroduce native planting
From the beginning, the goal has been to carefully balance the needs of families with the natural environment that makes Dundas so special.
As the project continues, sustainability remains a key focus:
🌱 Protecting and restoring the site’s natural landscape
🌱 Improving how water is absorbed and managed on-site
🌱 Reducing hard surfaces to support a healthier ecosystem
🌱 Using geothermal energy and designing a fully electric, net-zero ready building
This is the first step in creating a space where children and families can feel supported, surrounded by care, and connected to nature.
