Meet Dan Munro, a founding member of the Pictou County Artists Association and the Artists Guild of Young Art, and a true inspiration at Shiretown Nursing Home. 🎨

When Dan moved to Shiretown, he faced challenges with mobility and painting. With the support of physiotherapy, he regained his dexterity and improved his ability to walk, allowing him to return to the art he loves.

Since then, Dan and his friends have hosted painting classes for his fellow residents, encouraging others to explore their creativity. At Shiretown's Fall Craft Fair, Dan sold his artwork and generously donated half of the proceeds to support the recreation program.

As many pause to celebrate with loved ones, our team members continue to provide care with skill and compassion. We're grateful to those spending their holidays supporting residents and families, thank you for all that you do.

Thank you to all the healthcare workers across Nova Scotia who work hard all year, especially through the holidays. While many families gather and slow down, you keep showing up with care, skill, and compassion. We're grateful for everything you do not just today, but every day. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones.

This holiday season, we challenged our teams to create a wreath representing their home or department, using (mostly) only supplies already on hand.

From medical equipment to recycled coffee pods, our teams flexed their creative muscles to produce 19 wreaths.

We'd like to thank every team that participated and helped to make this challenge such a fun and festive way to celebrate the season together! πŸ’™πŸŽ„

We couldn't be more delighted by this gingerbread masterpiece!

We were lucky enough to bring home this beautiful replica of Maud and Everett Lewis' home from the CTV Christmas Daddies Telethon Charitable Auction, and it now has a special place in our Antigonish office.

Created by Michelle Giles and her son, every detail, from the tiny paintings, to the sugar windows and icicles, is just magical.

As long-time admirers of Maud Lewis' joyful folk art and legacy, this felt like the perfect addition to our holiday dΓ©cor - and a wonderful way to support a great cause.

During the Antigonish Highland Society's Feast of St. Andrew, Irene MacLeod was posthumously recognized as a Life Member in acknowledgement of her exceptional service to the Society and the Highland Games, including her time as President and Chief of the Clans. This honour reflects the deep and lasting impact Irene made on the community she cared for so deeply.

The evening also included the celebration of the 2nd annual Brian and Irene MacLeod Volunteer of the Year Award, presented to this year's deserving recipient, Iain Boyd. Congratulations to Iain, and to the Antigonish Highland Society on an excellent event.
