๐Ÿฅถ Chilly temperatures expected to continue this week.

Conditions like these can become dangerous very quickly, especially for anyone without a warm place to go.

To help keep everyone safe, the Municipality has four warming centres available for anyone who needs a place to warm up:
๐Ÿ”นJohn Levi Community Centre
๐Ÿ”นAlmonte Branch โ€“ Mississippi Mills Public Library
๐Ÿ”นStewart Community Centre
๐Ÿ”นPakenham Branch โ€“ Mississippi Mills Public Library

These spaces offer a warm, safe environment during extreme cold. We encourage residents to check in on neighbours, friends, and family who may need support.

It's going to be cold this weekend! ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ

๐ŸฅถFrostbites can happen quickly and most often impact toes, feet, fingers, hands, ears, and nose.

๐Ÿ‘‡If you see these signs:

1๏ธโƒฃIf possible, remove anything restricting blood flow (boots, gloves, jewelry). Thaw the area only if you are sure it will not freeze again.

2๏ธโƒฃ Warm the area gradually using warm (not hot) water or body heat. If the frozen area has thawed, donโ€™t break any blisters. Protect them with loose, dry dressings.

3๏ธโƒฃ If possible, elevate any thawed extremities above the level of the heart.

4๏ธโƒฃ Rehydrate the person by providing plenty of fluids and encourage the person to seek medical attention.

Yeowza! These spots with the Carleton Place Public Library for March Break have been selling fast! ๐Ÿคฏ

Don't miss out and register your child for March 14th's Stay Safe! Course before spaces are gone!

We're partnering with 13 First Aid to bring a "Stay Safe!" course to the library during the March Break. If you have a young person who wants to start staying home alone, this is the perfect course to get them (and you) feeling confident to do so!

Registration begins now for Stay Safe on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 10am - 4pm. Participants will be here all day and have a lunch break in between, so please make sure to send them with nut-free food, water and any snacks they might need. This program teaches applicable and age-appropriate skills, preparing participants to respond to challenges in real-world scenarios. It increases and reinforces their capacity to improve their own safety, giving them tools to stay safe in their community or when on their own.

Follow the link below or visit our website to find the link to register for this program. It's perfect for kids aged 9 - 13 and costs $70. Use the code CPKIDS10 for a 10% discount to this class and save a little money.

13 First Aid is a provider recognized by the Red Cross and will provide a certificate of completion at the end. If you have any questions, please feel free to email Heidi at hsinnett@carletonplace.ca

Hurry---spaces are limited for this program.

If you must travel, slow down, give yourself extra time, and stay alert.

01/21/2026

โ„๏ธ As youโ€™re clearing driveways and walkways, we're reminding everyone to take one extra important step:

๐Ÿ” Check your homeโ€™s exterior exhaust vents.

Snow and ice can block vents for furnaces, fireplaces, and water heaters โ€” and that can cause dangerous carbon monoxide to build up inside your home. A quick check now can make a big difference in keeping your household safe.

๐Ÿ’ก Take a few extra minutes to clear vents and stay safe this winter.
