I lovingly refer to my TRX Yoga class as Movement as Medicine and most recently Move, Resist, Release … the reality is the TRX is one small piece of this class and I haven’t yet found the words to fully articulate this experience of learning how to comfortably be in your body ... but here's a start!
I am a total geek about how our bodies move and what keeps them well; I've been in my own body for 60 years plus I have been supporting other women in theirs for 20+ years!
I have a lot of experience (and so many trainings) to create classes from! So, here’s a few things you need to know about what this class actually offers your body, because all of my trainings are utilized in this class – breathwork, yoga in all it’s forms, personal training, dynamic stretching, body weight resistance training, trainings with the foot collective and foam rolling!
Movement is how our lymphatic system is pumped, through gentle yoga, low impact cardio muscles contract and move lymph fluid … our heart has it’s own powerful pump to get blood through the body, our lymphatic system relies on movement, deep breathing and manual stimulation to pump toxins out of our body!
Resistance training like the TRX system support the building of muscle, improves bone density, increases metabolism and is so beneficial to your mental health! Aging with good balance through core strength reduces risk of falls and protects the integrity of the spine … mobility and flexibility through resistance training on the TRX is great ‘active living insurance’ for all ages!
Release … perhaps my favourite way to end a class is to fall fully into relax! This class uses a variety of tools to invite the body to release stress and tension while creating a space of alignment, it’s amazing what you can do with some yoga blocks, tune up balls, straps and bolsters!
The key I believe to feeling good in our bodies; is recognizing that there is NO ONE thing that makes it so! Our bodies are intricate layers of magic that all require their own tending; but it all responds to connection … you can’t just eat well, or just do cardio, you can’t just release without strengthening, there is a balance that only you can assess and this class offers you practical tools to do at home as you build your relationship with your body!
We move and sweat, we breathe and rest, it’s all about getting into right relation with our bodies, building connection with what we need and offering it to ourselves!
