Good morning everyone!

We have 3 upcoming workshops called "No Gym Required" that will focus on physical wellness and health. The event will guide participants through the steps of setting goals, physical activity guidelines with consideration of age, as well as walking and body weight exercises you can do to get moving.

The 3 dates will be April 15, 22 & 29 from 1:30PM to 3PM.

Free for LRWC members, or drop in fee for non members. Email Karen at memberships@lrwellness.ca to register!

The workshop is organized by the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority and supported by the LRWC.

- Online using MS Teams.
- Print resources for each participant to take home.
- Classes lead by a certified MFC Fitness Leader.
- Participants should wear clothing and footwear for physical activity and to bring a water
bottle.
- This class is great for anyone that considers themselves an active older adult or is
new to exercise or coming back to exercise after illness or injury.

It may not feel like it yet, but spring has to arrive eventually… and when the snow finally melts and the ditches start running, it will be time for the Great Ashern Duck Race!

Sponsor your very own brave little duck for just $5 and watch it race down the rushing ditch water toward glory. These plucky ducks will battle the current, dodge twigs and whirlpools, and paddle their way to the finish. Prizes for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place and last place ducks (because even slow ducks deserve recognition!).

No date yet — the race will happen as soon as Mother Nature flips the “spring thaw” switch. You can adopt your racing duck from a committee member or at Dodd’s Siding.Get your duck in the race and see if yours is a speedy sprinter… or just enjoying the scenic route.

Kids ages 5–10 are invited to come try Kids Cricket on the fieldhouse at the Lakeshore Regional Wellness Centre right after school on Tuesday, March 24 from 3:45–4:45 pm. This fun session will introduce children to the basics of cricket. Kids must attend with an adult. This is becoming a semi-regular event, and this gathering will be our third cricket get-together, so come see what it’s all about! The event is free for LRWC members, and the drop-in fee for non-member children is $5. Clean indoor shoes are required. A big thank you to Coach Subin Thomas for generously volunteering his time to host and lead this exciting activity!

Mega Bounce is coming back for 2 dates at the LRWC! A FUN way to get moving to burn calories and tone your body.

The next date is March 14 at 1PM for ages 16+, and 2PM for 5+.

Puzzle Competition!

Get ready for a fun and fast-paced Puzzle Competition at the Lakeshore Regional Wellness Centre!

Each team will receive the same 500-piece puzzle and compete to see who can complete it the fastest. Teams may have up to four players, and kids are welcome to join in the fun.

The competition will take place on Friday, April 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Access Credit Union Studio. The cost is $20 per team.

The bar will be open for those who would like to enjoy a refreshment while they compete.Gather your team, sharpen your strategy, and get ready for a great night of friendly competition!

Check out this week's schedule! We have some new programming happening at the LRWC.

Stroller Strides will happen Wednesday from 10AM to 11AM. Bring the stroller and the little ones and get some steps in! Listen to music or an ebook, or visit with a fellow parent.

Yoga is on Sundays from 9AM to 10AM with Aayushi. $10 fee on top of membership/drop in.

Zumba with Aayushi will follow yoga on Sundays from 10:30AM to 11:30AM. Get that body moving and burn those calories! $10 fee on top of membership/drop in.

Seed Starting and Transplanting Workshop

Calling all gardeners! The Lakeshore Regional Wellness Centre is pleased to offer a two-part Seed Starting and Transplanting Workshop led by Alann Fraser, a certified Manitoba Master Gardener.

Session One:
March 28 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Participants will learn how to successfully start seeds at home, including selecting the proper soil and applying effective seed-starting techniques. During this hands-on session, we will plant tomatoes, peppers, two varieties of flowers, and two varieties of herbs. All equipment and materials are provided, and participants will take home the seeds they have planted.

Session Two:
April 25 10:00–11:30 a.m.
Participants will return to transplant their seedlings and learn best practices to support healthy plant growth. Each participant will take home their transplanted plants.
The cost for both sessions is $40. Non-members are required to pay the applicable drop-in fee in addition to the workshop cost. The workshop will take place in the Access Credit Union Studio. Pre-registration is required by March 21. To register, please sign up at the LRWC. Space is limited—reserve your spot early and get a strong start on your gardening season!
