The LRWC is hiring!

We are looking for a positive and motivated individual for our Recreation Assistant position at the Wellness Center. The individual will be responsible for summer programming, member and guest services, administrative duties, and cleaning and general maintenance.

The applicant must be between the ages of 16 to 29 to satisfy funding requirements.

New! Mini League Team Pickleball

We’re excited to introduce a Team Pickleball Mini League running through May and June for about 6 weeks, depending on how many teams register. Teams will consist of 4 players (2 men and 2 women) and will compete in a structured but friendly format each week:

- Men’s Doubles
- Women’s Doubles
- Two Mixed Doubles matches

Each team will play 4 games per week, giving everyone plenty of court time and a great mix of competition and fun. Mini League will run on Wednesday evenings, with start times of 6:00 and 8:00. The cost is $80 per team. We’d like to begin May 6 if we have enough teams.

Megabounce has been canceled tomorrow as we did not receive enough registrations for this event. We will reschedule Megabounce for another time when more are able to make it!

We have ducks available! The water is running and it wont be long now. Comment or message to secure your ducks, there are a few left!!

It may not feel like it yet, but spring has to arrive eventually… and when the snow finally melts and the ditches start running, it will be time for the Great Ashern Duck Race!

Sponsor your very own brave little duck for just $5 and watch it race down the rushing ditch water toward glory. These plucky ducks will battle the current, dodge twigs and whirlpools, and paddle their way to the finish. Prizes for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place and last place ducks (because even slow ducks deserve recognition!).

No date yet — the race will happen as soon as Mother Nature flips the “spring thaw” switch. You can adopt your racing duck from a committee member or at Dodd’s Siding.Get your duck in the race and see if yours is a speedy sprinter… or just enjoying the scenic route.

We hosted over 50 people for this event, and what a success it was. Lots of extremely important information was presented to help educate and protect our communities. Thank you to RCMP and MPI for their work on these presentations!

What a fantastic turnout for our first Speed Puzzle Competition! We had 14 teams compete for the fastest 500 piece puzzle completion, and even had to make a wait list due to high demand!

The race was extremely close as we had the top 3 teams finish within 4 seconds of one another! Congratulations to Leon, Janelle, Tessa, and Bernice on winning the race, completing the puzzle in just under one hour.

We will definitely be hosting this event again, so stay tuned for those announcements!
