I had a memory surface the other day…
My first experience with Reiki at 15.

A woman my mom knew was learning different healing modalities, and I became the “guinea pig.”
My mom stayed in the room. The overhead lights were on.
And they kept asking, “Do you feel anything?”

I didn’t know what I was supposed to feel.
It was new… unfamiliar… a little awkward if I’m honest.
And I remember thinking…
Nothing’s happening.

Now I look back and realize—
it wasn’t that nothing was happening.
It was that my body didn’t feel safe enough to receive.
No softness.
No stillness.
No space to actually connect.

Because Reiki isn’t just about energy being offered…
it’s about the body being able to open to it.

Today, the space I hold is different.
Soft lighting.
Gentle music.
A calm, grounded presence.

A space where your nervous system can finally exhale.
And when that happens…
that’s when people begin to feel it.

Not because something is being forced—
but because their bodies are no longer in defence mode.

This is the part most people don’t realize:
Healing doesn’t begin when the energy starts…
It begins when you feel safe enough to receive it.

If you’ve ever thought,
“I didn’t feel anything”…
It doesn’t mean it didn’t work.
It might just mean your body was still protecting you.
And that’s something we gently work with… not against. 🤍

It’s been a while since I’ve hosted an in-person workshop.

Not because the work stopped…
but because it deepened.

Over the past while I’ve been doing my own inner work —
sitting with emotions, noticing patterns, and reconnecting with the parts of myself that needed more awareness.

And through that process, the way I guide others has evolved too.

This workshop is a space for that deeper work.

For the people who feel overwhelmed…
who have been carrying too much for too long…
who have been told something is “wrong” with them when really they’ve just been disconnected from themselves.

You’re not broken.
You’re overwhelmed, conditioned, and disconnected from your inner wisdom.

Survival mode -

Fight
Flight
Freeze
Fawn

Disconnected from yourself.
Trying to manage everything.
Everyone.

Responsibilities piling up.
Fear creeping in.

Control slipping through your fingers.

Exhaustion…
hidden behind a smile and the familiar words,
"I'm fine."

Your brain refuses to shut off.
Sleep becomes a stranger.

The weight won't move.
Stress hormones looping on repeat.

You keep saying yes.
You keep complying.

Deep inside,
there’s a muffled scream.

Ready for conflict.
Ready to run.
Not sure which way to go.
So you give more.
And more.
Until the body answers with lethargy.

Another day to push through.
Disconnected again.

But here's the truth most people miss…

We've simply normalized living in an overactive nervous system
and learned to laugh it off.

Wash.
Rinse.
Repeat.

Until someone finally says:
"There has to be another way."

The most common statement I hear when in sessions is - “I never thought about it like that, it explains a lot.” The fact is that when we change our perspective, it transforms the situation, opens our minds to other possibilities, and releases emotional heaviness held in our body tissue.

For example, I was talking with a client and they mentioned that they wished their family were different and how things could have been, if only...

What I heard was a longing for a reality that wouldn’t come to pass.

They were still living in the past, wishing and hoping. This mindset doesn’t change the NOW; it clouds the reality of the present by not seeing the situation of the family for what it truly is - dysfunctional. As they wish for different things, they contribute to the dysfunction through the longing energy they hold, rather than accepting what is.

In that instant of awareness, the client recognized their role in the dynamics, realized they had been missing the present moment, and acknowledged that you can’t change the past; you can only change the present.

I could feel them embody this new awareness; it was like a massive spotlight revealing a pattern bound to the past, and they transformed in that instant into the present.

It’s a great feeling to experience and witness.
