📣G Tackaberry and Family Home Update! 🎉

𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 | 𝗙𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚. 𝗧𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is providing an updated status on the G. Tackaberry and Family Long‑Term Care Home following a report presented to Committee of the Whole on April 8, 2026.

Although construction of the home is mostly complete and staff have been working inside the building since November 2025, the home is not yet open to residents. Some final construction items need to be completed, and the home must receive provincial approval before residents can move in.

MVL resident Joyce picked right back up where she left off partaking in a hobby she enjoys through our knitting club program.

Recreational programming should reflect the unique interests and values of the resident population to ensure meaningful engagement.

Further, we are always seeking to empower our residents in sharing their skills and hobbies in our home with co residents and staff.

The Maple View Resident’s Council was consulted with to better understand what programs and events they would like to engage in to make their Easter special. 🐰🐣

The residents requested one thing- to give back to the Athens community. 🫶

Many shared their memories of volunteering at soup kitchens at Easter to ensure local community members had Easter Dinner.

The Residents Council came up with the idea to do a food drive and collect non perishable food items to ensure Easter Dinner for local Athens community members. A drop box is set up at the main entrance of Maple View Lodge and we are accepting donations until April 1st. 🩷

All donations will go to the local Athens food bank.

We are incredibly proud of the kindness and generosity of the Maple View Resident’s Council.
