Speaker Tyler Smith is giving a keynote presentation in Fort Frances on November 3, and the Rainy River District Ontario Health Team is giving Atikokan residents the opportunity to watch it live from home by registering for the livestream option.

Did you know…the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) lowered the recommended starting age for screening from 50 to 40! If you're at average risk, talk to your healthcare provider to determine if breast cancer screening is right for you.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to remind ourselves and our loved ones about the importance of early detection.

Regular breast cancer screening can find cancer when it’s small and easier to treat. If you’re between the ages of 40 and 74, you may be eligible for a mammogram through the Ontario Breast Screening Program — no doctor’s referral needed.

💊📞 We've received an influx of calls asking about how to transfer prescriptions. 📞💊

This process doesn’t actually require anything from your family doctor. Your doctor just writes the prescription - where you have it filled is totally up to you!

To transfer a prescription, you can contact your preferred pharmacy and ask them to complete a pharmacy to pharmacy transfer. You will need to provide your old pharmacy’s information in order to do so.

Whenever you are receiving a new prescription from your doctor, it is a good idea to inform them of your preferred pharmacy. This way, the prescription can be sent to the right place, right away.

🚪✨ Opening Day at Atikokan Pharmacy ✨🚪

Like any good Atikokan story, there are a few twists on Day One.

The debit machines didn’t get the memo… so this week it’s cash only (or a charge account). 💵🧾

Our first front-store order showed up at about 25% of what we asked for — so the shelves are looking a little bare 🫠

The important part? The doors are unlocked, the lights are on, and we’re officially up and running. 🎉

Thanks to everyone for the patience while things settle into place — the rest will come together soon enough.
