Detox Party!

My naturopathic student interns this year suggested that we do a detox together. This way, we can have better understanding of a possible treatment recommended to our patients 🩺.

I haven’t done a “formal” detox in a long while. I’m more a fan of supporting your body on the daily with its natural detoxifying abilities - though healthy eating, good quality sleep, physical activity, contrast showers, and plenty of water 🥗😴🏃🏻‍♀️🚿💦. BUT, depending on what’s happening in your health history, adding select products to aid the detox process will be helpful and needed (always discuss with your Naturopathic Doctor which products are best for you).

I love that these interns are eager, excited, and proactive about their learning. So, “Detox Party” it is!

Shoutout to for kindly sending us their two-week Detox Kit and making this party happen 🎉!

Okay, so a little embarrassed that this is my first time making and trying overnight oats 🫣. It’s yummy. And will fit nicely into my hectic morning routine that has me running out the door with just a protein shake and piece of fruit (veggies too, if I’m lucky 😅).

I used the overnight oats recipe base (the first one that came up in my online search), and added a blackberry fruit compote that we had in the fridge. Our little miss 👧🏻 helped me prep several jars last night, with the promise that she could try it in the morning. So, looks like I’ll be needing more jars to feed the whole family 🤩.

1/2 cup whole rolled oats
1 tbsp chia seeds
1/2 tsp maple syrup
Pinch of sea salt
1/4 cup vanilla yogurt (optional)
2/3 cup unsweetened almond milk
Toppings of your choice

Have you tried overnight oats? What else am I late to the game on?

Happy New Year and start to 2025!

I’ve never been big into new year resolutions 🤷🏻‍♀️, and I find birthdays are my time for self-reflection and goal-setting.

Growing up, rather than New Year’s Eve parties with peers, it was more about New Year’s Day with family and celebrating Korean traditions passed down from our parents and grandparents. (Yes, as a teen and young adult, it did kind of suck to miss out 🫣, but now I can appreciate what our parents were trying to instil within us.)

So, at the start of this new year, I’m reminded of the immense blessing of my family ❤️. My hope is that every day this year (and the year after that, to forever), that I hold dear to and am deserving of such.

Gaahh, it’s finally here! Rosegold Health Inc. brings together the common vision that Linda and I have shared over the past 13+ years in practice. (This is also the reason why we’ve been running on pure adrenaline the last few months, trying to get everything up and operational 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️😵‍💫🙃.)

Check us out at . This is where you’ll find us now most days, continuing to support our patients and working to be the best business partners + clinic directors that we can be.

I love working out, but I - like a lot of people - can struggle with the motivation to exercise (waking up for those 6am gym classes is definitely rough 🥱). So here are the things that I do to keep myself consistent and accountable, and physically active year-round.

🐢Start low and slow. Jumping right into an intense workout schedule, especially if you’re starting from scratch, is rarely successful. Start with smaller attainable goals, and increase the duration and intensity when you’ve been achieving these smaller goals consistently for several weeks.

🗓️ Schedule in your workouts. When you establish set days to exercise, it’s more likely to create the uncompromising habit to adhere to the schedule. I have the same 3-4 days that I workout, and make sure to always block out those times in my week.

🥰 Choose something enjoyable. I like team sports and group fitness classes. I’m not a fan of just running, so playing soccer has always been what motivates me to run. Find what’s fun for you and turn that into a way to stay active.

👯‍♀️ Create a support network. Workout with a buddy. Join a group. Soccer is a way for me to also catch up with long-time teammates. I’m on group chats with friends I made at the gym (we message each other to confirm that we’ll be at those 6am spin classes). It makes working out way more fun when it’s with others.

Immune support. Whatever bugs that have been hitting every home have gone through ours as well (and multiple times over). Fever, chesty coughs, bad sleep, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Every time we get through a sickness, we tentatively think “this has GOT to be the last one of the season…right?!” 🫣Good thing I always keep a steady stock of our immune-supporting supplements. I’ve listed some of my faves (no affiliation) - but be sure to speak to your Naturopathic Doctor about what’s right for your little ones.

Vitamin D. Most of us are deficient year-round (not just during those long Canadian winters). Vit D is a modulator of our innate and adaptive immune responses. Low vit D status has been linked to increased frequency of infections. Any good brand in liquid drops for kids will do.

Probiotics. Because our gut microbiota plays such a huge role in all aspects of our health, including regulating immune homeostasis. Eating healthy, nutrient-dense and balanced foods will also support our immune system via our gut health. I have a preference for the HMF line.

Zinc. Supports the growth and function of immune cells, and helps fight off bacteria and viruses. Our kids like the L’il Kids Zinc Spray.

Botanicals. I really like the Deep Immune for Kids (immune strengthening), Kids Elderberry syrup (high in vit C, reduces cold/flu symptoms), and .vogel_canada Echinaforce Junior chewables (shortens the duration of URTIs).

And more, which will probably require another post.

The liquids I add to a small measuring cap, one for each child, as a sort of supplement “shot”. The others are given by spoon. Never any complaints from these three 🧑🏻👦🏻👧🏻.
