Excited for this great event! We’ll be on at 11am - would love to see you there.
SEEDY SATURDAY & MAPLE SYRUP FESTIVAL
Hello from Kelly at Think Turtle Conservation Initiative
There’s something special about this time of year, even with snow still on the ground. The days are getting longer, spring is just around the corner, and there’s a growing excitement for getting back into the garden, made even more special by gathering together at the Canadian Peace Museum for this year’s Seedy Saturday for a community-focused day full of seeds, ideas, and friendly faces.
Hosted by the Bancroft Farmers' Market, this annual gathering is about more than just planting. It is about sharing knowledge, exchanging stories, and growing something meaningful together.
Event Details
Seedy Saturday & Maple Syrup Festival
Saturday, March 28, 2026
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Canadian Peace Museum
19 Valleyview Drive, Bancroft
What You’ll Find
You'll find tables of seeds, plants, herbals, local maple syrup, and friendly gardeners happy to share their expertise. To participate in the seed swap, bring your labeled seeds to offer at the swap table. If you don’t have seeds to trade, you can make a small donation and take something new home.
Visit booths to learn about soil health, native plants, and simple ways to support the land through gardening.
Speakers
There will also be a speaker's corner throughout the day. At 10:30 a.m. EcoStructure Fraser will share tips for sprouting greens. At 11:00 a.m. Liz and Gjergj from Wild Ones will talk about local wild plants and their benefits, including those that can be foraged in winter. Everlily Maples will be speaking at 11:30 a.m., with a noon session to be confirmed.

Why It Matters
Seedy Saturday is about community in the truest sense. It brings together people who care about biodiversity, food security, and the protection of local ecosystems. It is a place where knowledge is shared freely and where small actions grow into something much bigger.
If you are new to gardening or have been growing for years, you will leave with ideas, inspiration, and something in your pocket ready to plant.
Visit Think Turtle
Stop by the Think Turtle Conservation Initiative booth at Bancroft Seedy Saturday to pick up seeds. While you’re there, take a moment to learn about turtle conservation in our region and how small, simple actions can make a real difference as turtles begin to emerge this spring. You can also browse conservation-themed items that help support ongoing education and protection efforts.
We’ll have Wild Bergamot, also known as bee balm, from Mount Royal Seeds, available in 50-seed packages with sowing instructions. Packages are $4.50 while quantities last.
Wild Bergamot (Monarda fistulosa) thrives in moist, well-drained, organic-rich soil in sun to partial shade and grows easily from seed into vibrant flowers that attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds while adding real ecological value to your garden.
We would love to see you there on March 28. Come ready to grow gardens, grow knowledge, and grow community.
