I’ll be back in the office in early 2026 and will send out an update once I’ve returned.
I’m incredibly grateful for your ongoing support and trust, it means the world to me. I look forward to this next chapter and can’t wait to return in early 2026, continuing our shared mission of providing the best care possible for your beloved animals.

* Help Animal Chiropractors* 🔊🆘

Hi Everyone - This post has me feeling frustrated, sad and frankly just angry…

The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is embarking on the modernization of the 'Veterinarians Act' to better define the scope of practice for Veterinary Medicine in Ontario.

Spinal Manipulative Therapy (Chiropractic Adjustments) is one aspect of the scope of practice that is currently under review.

The Ontario Chiropractic Association is working hard to preserve the ability of Chiropractors who are trained alongside Veterinarians to continue to provide Animal Chiropractic care by ensuring clear authorization of the scope for Animal Chiropractic care in the new legislation to include those Chiropractors trained to treat animals.

If the authorization for qualified Chiropractors is not included regarding Spinal Manipulative Therapy on animals, it will mean that Chiropractors with appropriate training will no longer be accessible to pet owners unless under the direct supervision of a Veterinarian.

Not only will this dramatically reduce accessibility of chiropractic care for pet owners and their animals, but it has the potential to destroy many well-established animal chiropractic practices in this province. I have been in practice for ten years now and have worked collaboratively with so many amazing veterinarians over the last decade.

The Veterinary industry is stretched beyond measure and adding more burden in terms of referral/mandatory supervision of animal chiropractic care will cause an increased workload for an overworked profession and limit access to alternative care for pet owners.

If I (or any other Animal Chiropractor) has made an impact on the quality of your pets’ life, I so kindly ask that you take a moment out of your day to print and sign the attached letter (Letter To ‘Minister From Animal Owner') and email it to Minister Lisa Thompson:

Why I recommend time off after a treatment

Many people wonder why I recommend some rest time after a treatment, and I often hear them say “I ride right after I’ve had bodywork done and I feel fine”.

Here are my reasons why:
1) It takes time for the body and brain to register the changes that have just been made. I want the horse to get accustomed to these changes before we hop on their back and push them into set positions
2) They can be sore, and need time for things to settle down. Often time horses are willing to do what we want even when it doesn’t feel great for them. Willingness does not mean they should.
3) We as riders do not always do our horses a favour... if we have our own weakness or imbalance influence their body mechanics, the horse will not be able to maintain the work done to them. Give them a chance to move better on their own free will before we come in and muddy things up again (especially when we can make them more comfortable and stronger in the mean time)

This all being said, movement is great after bodywork, so whether it be turnout or hand-walking, this will allow them to move their bodies without being influenced by tack/rider
