Winter’s coming—let’s talk cold-weather safety. ❄️

As the temperatures drop, we start seeing more slips, falls, and cold-related injuries.

A few simple tips:
Wear proper footwear with good traction
Take your time on icy steps and driveways
Keep a small first aid kit in your car

A flickering candle can turn frighteningly fast! 🕯️Jack-o’-lanterns look magical — but open flames + costumes = fire risk.

Some helpful safety tips:
🔥 Use battery-powered candles instead of real flames.
🎃 Keep decorations away from heat sources.
🚒 Know basic burn first aid — cool, cover, and call for help if needed.

Trick-or-Treat, Not Trip-and-Fall! 🎃 Keep the tricks fun — not painful!

Dark sidewalks, long costumes, and spooky excitement can lead to trips and tumbles.
👻 Choose costumes that fit properly.
👻 Use reflective tape or glow sticks.

Barrie First Aid and CPR Training has a vision of having everyone in Simcoe County (and beyond) know, understand and feel confident in performing CPR and being better able to bridge the gap between when an emergency happens, and an ambulance arrives. You never know when you will encounter a situation that requires quick thinking and skills to keep a family member or friend alive. My thought is that the more people who know how to help in our community, the more people who will be able to help out when needed.
