That moment when your kid does something that makes your heart burst šŸ„¹šŸ’™

Our guy ran his first half marathon today at the Toronto Marathon—21 km of determination!
Finished strong with a time of 1:40:07, placing 976 out of over 10,000 runners 🤯. That is in the top 10%.

Beyond proud of you, B. What an accomplishment! šŸƒā€ā™‚ļøāœØ

What if walking could feel safer, steadier, and more comfortable — even with spinal stenosis?šŸš¶šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Many people with spinal stenosis want to start walking more — but pain, leg heaviness, or fear of losing balance can make it feel overwhelming.

I’ve been working with Anne on this exact goal, and one tool that continues to make a huge difference is the Urban Poling ACTIVATOR poles. They’re designed specifically for people with health conditions or mobility concerns, and they can make walking feel safer, smoother, and more comfortable.

Here’s why they help:

They support a gentle forward‑leaning posture that often eases stenosis‑related symptoms

They improve stability and confidence

They reduce load on the spine and hips

They turn walking into a full‑body activity without extra impact

If you’re thinking about starting a walking program with spinal stenosis, here are a few simple steps:

• Start small — even 5–10 minutes counts
• Set the pole height correctly — elbows slightly bent, shoulders relaxed
• Use the ā€œplant‑step‑stepā€ rhythm for smoother gait
• Walk at a comfortable, talk‑friendly pace
• Stop before symptoms spike

Walking is one of the most powerful tools we have for maintaining mobility and independence — and with the right support, it becomes possible for more people.

If you’re navigating spinal stenosis like Anne and want to move with more confidence, ACTIVATOR poles can be a game‑changer.

✨ If you’re curious about how to begin—just like Anne—reach out. The right tools and guidance can make walking feel possible again.

Still smiling from last week’s MROO Zone 9 meeting! 😁

I just heard from the organizers that the keynote received 100% positive feedback — not one negative comment. I’m blown away.

Their team called it the ā€œbest meeting to date,ā€ and honestly… the credit goes to the members who showed up ready to learn, laugh, and rethink what aging well can look like.

I’ve shared a public‑safe recap with MROO so members can revisit the big ideas without sharing client photos or proprietary content.

Thank you, MROO, for the warm welcome and the meaningful conversations. Motion truly is lotion. 🌼✨

Keynote Address: Motion is Lotion: Movement is the Key to Aging Well! šŸƒ

What an incredible morning with the Municipal Retirees Organization Ontario (MROO) community on April 16th, presenting the keynote address for the Annual Zone 9 Meeting North & LN To Go!

We explored how movement supports strength, balance, brain health, and independence — and why small, consistent steps make the biggest difference as we age.

MROO has now posted a summary of the keynote on their website for anyone who’d like to revisit the main themes and takeaways.

Thank you to the MROO community for such an engaged and inspiring session.

Here’s to aging well, staying active, and choosing movement every day.

šŸ“£ Big news for this week! šŸŽ‰

This Thursday, April 16th, I’ll be speaking at the MROO (Municipal Retirees Organization Ontario) Zone 9 Meeting.

I’ll be delivering my keynote ā€œMotion is Lotion: Movement is the Key to Aging Well,ā€ and I’m looking forward to connecting with members and sharing practical tools for staying strong, confident, and mobile as we age.

✨ Stories like Janice’s are why I do what I do. šŸ’›
ā €
When she arrived, walking wasn’t possible. Two years later, she’s moving again — with a limp, with some pain, but with independence and confidence she fought hard to regain.
ā €
Her resilience is the real hero here. I’m grateful to walk alongside clients who show up, try again, and trust the process.

If you’re working through mobility challenges, chronic pain, or recovery, know that progress is possible — and support is right here. šŸš¶ā€ā™€ļø

If you’re working through your own movement journey, let’s talk about what support could look like for you. Connect with me here.

šŸ’§THE INNISFIL YMCA WARM POOL IS OPEN - AND IT’S FANTASTIC!

Great news for our community: the YMCA pool is officially open, warm, and feeling amazing. Aquatic movement is one of the most joint‑friendly ways to build strength, mobility, and confidence—especially for anyone managing OA, stiffness, or early post‑surgical recovery.

A few simple ways to use the pool (lap or leisure) this spring:

• Water walking for hip and knee mobility
• Gentle resistance work using the natural drag of water
• Balance practice with reduced fall risk
• Low‑impact cardio that still challenges your muscles

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to return to the water, this is it!
Not sure where to start? Let's connect.

🪻SPRING Q & A

Q: Why does activity sometimes make your joints feel more stiff in the spring?

A: Seasonal shifts can influence how tissues behave. As temperatures rise and humidity changes, connective tissues—like tendons, ligaments, and joint capsules—can feel a little ā€œsleepyā€ after winter. When you suddenly increase activity, those tissues need time to adapt to new loads and ranges of motion.

🌱 How to ease the transition into spring movement

A few simple habits can help reduce early-season stiffness:

• Gentle warm-ups before outdoor activity
• Gradual increases in distance or pace
• Light strength work for hips, knees, and ankles
• Mobility routines that restore joint glide and tissue elasticity.

These strategies help your body adapt more smoothly to the return of outdoor activity.

If your body’s sending you mixed messages this spring, let’s sort them out together. A personalized movement check‑in can make all the difference.
